IMPROVED MOP-HEAD.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SAMUEL GANTZ, of Beaver Creek, in the county of Washington, and State of Maryland, have vinvented a new and improved Mop- Head; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description, of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, makingv a part of this speciication, in which my invention is represented by a side view, aportion of the movable jaw being shown in nrough face adjacent to that of the latter, but sliding freely on the handle, which extends through a slot in it, slightly larger than the handle, as seen at m, so that when the mop, shown in red, is inserted between the: jaws, and the partC is forced down, the movable jaw will clamp itself upon the handle, and the elastic expansive pressure of the mop will keep it clamped firmly.

D is aA wire rod, att-ached to the movable jaw C, and serving as a handle, by which to force the latter down and clamp the mop in place, and by which to draw the movable jaw up again and release the mop.

This part D is preferably, in form and construction, a single metallic rod, looped at d d, bent partially around the handle at d', au'd extending through guides c e, attached tothe handle.

Having thus described myinvention,

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let- Iters Patent, is-

The mop-head, above described, consisting essentially of the handle A, fixed jaw B, movable jaw C,

having a slot, lm, slightly larger than the handle A, and rod D, constructed and operating substantially as and for thepurposes set forth.

To the above specification of my improvement, I have set my hand, this 7th day of April, 1869.
