To all 'whom 'it 'may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT Fox., a citizen of the United States, and resident of New Roohelle', in the county of VVestchester and State of New York, have invented a now and following is a specification.
My invention consists in certain improvements in boots and is particularly well adapted for use in connection with automobile boots where the boot is put on over the shoe of the wearer and where it is desirable that the foot of the wearer may be readily inserted and withdrawn from the boot.
lVith this object in view my invention provides for separating the leg portion of the i boot from its top to a point adjacent to the represents the boot in side elevation,
foot portion along the back of the boot and providing the separated leg portions with a spring, the branches of whichare extended along the edges of .the separated leg portions so as to cause them to overlap each other to permit the leg portion of the boot to snugly embrace the leg of the wearer.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same, Fig. 3 is a back view of the boot with the separated portions in their normal overlapped position, and Fig. 4 is a. similar view showing the separated portions spread apart for facilitating the insertion and withdrawal of the foot of the wearer, .the upper parts of the separated leg portions being broken away to show the branches of the Spring which normally holds the separated leg portions closed.

Fnrthermore, the use of elastic webbing or gores is entirely obviated.
