Description

'0. E. HOOVER. PAGKAGE TIE. APPLIGATION IILBD OCT. 7, 1907.
Patented Nov. 10, 1 908.
. [NVENTOR I I A M1, 6
To all whom it may concern:
CHARLES E. HOOVER, OFSTRAdBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
PACKAGE-TIE No. 903,722. Specification or Application filed October 7,
Letters Patent. Patented I\l'o.v. .1O 1908.
1907. Serial No. 396,289.
Be it known that I, CHARLES E. Hooves, a resident of Strasburg, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Package-Ties; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, su'clnas will enable others skilled in the art to which it appcrtains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to an improvement in package ti'es,-the object of-the invention being to provide a simple and eflicient'device constructed of a single piece of wire and adapted to receive and securely hold the respective ends of a cord without necessity of wrapping the latter around any part of the device.
A further object is to so construct the device that it will properly retain its position upon a package.
\Vith these objects in View the invention consists in certain novel features of con-- struction and combinations of parts as hereinafter. set forth and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 'is a view illustrating my improvements when applied to a package. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail. view of the device and Fig. 3 is a view showing the device provided with a'hand hold. r
1 represents a piece of spring wire. the ends of which are first bent upon themselves and'the double strands of wire thus formed are bent laterally to form arms 2,- 2,the arm 2at one end of the device projecting in the opposite direction from the arm 2 at the other end thereof. These arms serve to retain the device fiat u on a package.
At each end of the evice, the free end of the wire forming one of the double strands ing disposed at respective sides of the body wire 1) will clamp the cord tightly against said, body wire and thus securely hold the same against possibility of slipping.
If desired, the body-portion of the device may be increased-somewhat inlength, and
From this construction andarrangebent to form a hand-hold 73 as showh in Ilaving fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire tdsecure by Letters-Patent, is,
A device of prising a single piece of spring wire having each of its end portions bent laterally form-- ing arms projecting in opposite directions at respectireends of the device, the free ends of the wire being bent to form loopsdisposed over the intermediate body portion and through which said body portion passes the character described, comthe members of each loop cooperating with the body portion between them t0--form a cord clamp.
In testimony whereof I have signed this. specification 1n the presence of two SllbSCl'lly ing Witnesses.
