ANDERSON, citizens of the United States, residing at Chat-tanoo a, in the county of Hamilton and State of Tennessee. have invented certain new and useful In'iprovements in Stands, Gages, and Helders for Crayons and Blowpipes. of which the following is a specification.

The primary object of thisinvention is the provision of a novel device to be used for marking ladies and misses skirts to insure a'uniform and even distance between the lower edge and the floor orlike surface, and at the same time to enable accurate marking for hems, tucks, bias folds, trimmings, etc. The construction of the device is such as to admit .of its use as a combined stand, holder and gage for various uses. v

For a full inderstanding of the in ve nt i on and the merits thereof and also to acquire a knowledge of the details of construction and the means for effecting the result, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings.

\Yhile the invention may different forms and conditions by changes in the structure and minor details without departing from the spirit or essential features thereof, still the preferred embodiment is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:-

Having thus described the invention, what is clainied as new is:

1. In a device of the character described, the combination of a slotted standard, a slide mounted within the slot, a spring plate carried by the slide and frictionally engaging the standard to hold the slide in position, and a holder carried by the said spring plate. 2. In a device'of the character described,

4. In a device of the character described,

5. In a device of the character set forth, the combination of a stand having an upright provided with a ertical slot, a slide adjiistable in said verticalslot and hating op- 5 posite edges grooved to receive edge portions of the upright bordering upon the slot, a clamp consisting of a block having a notch to receive a projecting side portion of the slide, and means for setting said clamp to 5 efiect a bindingof the upright to hold the slide in the adjusted position. 7
