Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 22, 1908.
' Application filed January 11, 1908; Serial No. 410,892.
To all whom it may concern."
Be it known that I, THOMAS B. \VEs'rox, a
citizcnof the United States, residing at \Yenona, 111 the county of Marshall and State of j 5 Illinois, have invented a new and useful Store-Cabinet, of which the following is a specification.
is particularly designed forholding tins of 0 cakes and the like although it may be used equally as well for other purposes.
The object. of the invention is to provide a cabinet having series of shelveswhich are movably supported, means being provided whereby anyone of the shelves can be swung outward from the cabinet and supported in extended position so that the contents of the shelf can be conveniently reached without interference by the other shelves.
.ple, durable and efiicient. construct-ion.
\Yith these and other objects in view the 5 invention consists of certain novel features of construction and vcombinations of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings isshown the preferred form of the invention.
' In said drawings: Figure 1 is a front elevation of a cabinetconstructed in accordance with the present invention. Fig. 2 is atransverse scction therethrough; Fig. 3' is a plan 5 view of one of the shelves detached.
standing from this base are the end panels 4 and the intermediate panels 5 of the cabinet j all of which serve to support the cabinet top 6. Each of the panels is perfectly formed of longitudinal strips 7 connect d at desired in- 5 tervals bv cross strips 8 and back strips 9 are fastened to the rear strip 7 of the panel so as to properly brace the cabinet. l ivotally connected to the adjoining faces of thestrips P 8 are parallel supporting linkslt) arranged in 0 pairs and the upper ends of these. links are. pivotally connected to shelves 11 so that This inventionrelates to store cabinets and Another object is to provide a cabinet in wluch cake tins and similar articles can be compactly stored, said cabinet being of sum 1 each shelf has a f each side thereo The )ivots of the various links are so disposed t llfih when the shelf is raised said links Iwill be inclined upwardly and rearwardly.-.
' while the rear edge of the shelf will bear.
j against the adjoining stri 9 where it will be held by gravity. By pul ing forward on any one of the shelves, however, the links supporting it will be swung therewith until one link of each )air is brought into contact with a block 12 ias'tened to one of the strips 8.
\Vhen the links are thus sup orted, the shelf is held n'ojected beyond tie front of the calnnet irame as statements the middle of Fig. 2. Each shelf is pii ferably provided with a retaining flange 13 along its front edge, while its rear edge is preferably beveled i as indicated at 14 so as to escape a tin 1o 01- other device which may be located upon the shelf thereunder. Each shelf may also be formed with a recess or slot 16 whereby the fingers of the operator can be conveniently E inserted thereinto for the purpose of moving i the shelf into or out of position wit-bin the Ecabinet'.
As shown in Fig. 1 the cabinet is referably Fformed of a plurality of vertiea rows of" shelves all of the shelves being independently 5 movable and each being designed to hold a 5 box 15 or other object or objects. \Vhen the f shelves are in raised position and against the & strips 9 they will not swing forward because the weight thereof and of the contents of the pair of links extending from "f shelves is directed rci-irwardly-against the Referring to the figures by characters of reierence, designates the base of the cabinet, the same being mounted upon cross? strips 2 preferably carried by casters 3. U p- 3 strips 9. Any one of the shelves, however, can be very easily extended forward simply by pulling upon it as to swing the links 10 l past the center of gravity and against the sto blocks 12'.
I t will be seen that the cabinet is very simt ple, durable, and ellicient, is of a light construction and can be conveniently moved i from place to place.
What'is claimed is:
A cabinet comprising parallel panels, links pivotally connected to the-panels and arranged in pairs, a shelf pivotally connected to and upported by the links, one pair of llinks being connected to each side of theshelf, stop blocks coi'iperat-ing with the links Q2 I j 7 899 95.
