Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 8, 1907.
Application filed July 19, 1906. Serial No. 326.948.
the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in drawer-guides, and more particularly to such guides for use with the drawers or bins of kitchen-cabinets; and its object is to provide guides that will permit the drawer or bin to move freely without binding, that will lower the drawer or bin at the front when the same is drawn out, that will also act as a'stop to limit the outward movement of the drawer, and to provide the samewith various new and useful features hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is an end elevation of a device embodying my invention with parts broken away to show the construction; Fig. 2, a'front elevation of the same with other parts broken away for a like purpose.
Like numbers refer to like parts in both of the figures.
1 represents the drawer or bin.
2 represents laterally-projecting supports at the respective upper sides of the drawer, the same being provided with upwardly and rearwardly inclined surfaces 3 on their under edges extending substantially throughout the forward two-thirds of the length thereof, more or less, and terminating at the rear in a concave recess 4. Said supports are also provided near the front with a slightly-concave portion 5. These supports are engaged by and carried upon rolls 6, journaled on studs on the frame, which rolls are traversed by the inclines 3 to lower the front of the drawer and engage the recesses 4 and 5 to hold the same in either open or closed position.
The rear end of the drawer is supported by rolls 7, journaled on the same near the rear lower corners thereof and traversing horizontal ways or tracks 8 on the frame.
To prevent the rear end of the drawer from rising when the same is drawn forward suflicient to bring the center of gravity outside the rolls 6, horizontal strips 9 are fixed in the case close above the supports 2.
By means of the described construction when the drawer is pulled out the upward and rearward inclination of the surface 3 permits the front of the drawer to descend, and when fully drawn out the rolls 6 engage the recesses 4 and stop the drawer in the position indicated by broken lines in Fig. 1. This inclined surface also tends to aid in bringing the drawer out of the case. If desired, the drawer can be readily removed by bringing the same out in a horizontal position, which raises the recess 4 above the plane of the rolls 6 and permits the drawer to be removed from the case. When the drawer is run back into the case, the front recesses 5, engaging the roll 6, insure that the drawer remains in place until purposely moved outward.
What I claim is 1. A drawer-guide, comprising a drawer, supports attached to the drawer and having upwardly and rearwardly inclined under surfaces, and rolls engaging the inclined surfaces of the supports and traversed thereby.
2. A drawer-guide comprising a drawer, a support attached to the drawer, said support having an upwardly and rearwardly inclined under surface and a recess at the rear end of said inclined surface, and a roll engaging said surface and recess and traversed by the support.
3. The combination of a case, a drawer, supports attached to the drawer, each support having an inclined under surface, and reces'ses at the respective ends of said surface, rolls j ournaled on the case andengaging the inclined surfaces and recesses of the supports,
ways in the case, and rolls on the rear of the drawerto engage and traverse the ways.
4. The combination of a case, a drawer in the case, supports on the respective sides of the drawer, each support having an inclined under surface and a recess at the rear of said surface, rolls engaging the said surfaces and recesses and supporting the front of the drawer, horizontal strips in the case above the supports, rolls on the rear of the drawer, and horizontal ways traversed by said rolls.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
