JARYAND c'ovnn HOLDER.
. Specification of Letters Patent.
Application llled February 28, 1907. Serial No. 859,328..
10 holding pickle jars and the ike, the object being to provide a holder which is very simple and enea in construction and one which is very effective in use.
Another object 'of my invention is to provide the holder with a hinged arm carrying a cover which is adapted to t over the j ar.
Another object of my invention is to ro vide means for supporting the cover w en swung up from over the jar.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully describedr andpointed out in the claims.
In the drawing forming a part of this speciiicationz-Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved holder showing a jar arranged thereon. Fig. 2 is a detail sectional view of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view of s. modiiicat-ion.
In the drawing A indicates a circular base provided with an outwardly projecting portion A which is preferably formed of wood but may be formed of any suitable material. Arranged on the base A. are spring-clips B on which the glass jar C is ada ted to rest and be securely held in place by t e spring clips engaieng the side of the jar. v
cured on the portion A of the base is s. standard 2D havin a plate E secured on its upper end provi ed with vertical spaced a ertured ears E in which is secured a pin on which is pivotally mounted the apertured end of a curved arm F. The free end of the arm F is also apertured to which is pivotall connected the a ertured ears G of a plate which is secure on the top of a cover H by screws, which is adapted to lit over vthe jar and close the same. A lug F is formed on the arm F so that the lid can be readily lifted when desired. A shoulder Fz is formed on the arm F adapted to engage the plate E when the arm is swung upwardly and hold the arm up into a vertical position so that the pickle or other article in the jar can be readily removedfrom the jar.
In the modification shown in Fig. 3 the base I is formed of metal having a recess formed therein adapted to receive the ar for holding it in pla/ce.
Havin thus fully described my invention, what I aim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:-
A jar and cover holder comprising a circu lar base provided with an outwardly propietxng portion, spring clips varranged on said ase for sup ortmg and holding a jar a standard n secure( on the outwardly tprojecting portion y of the' base, a late secure on the upper end of said stan( ard provided with vertical spaced apertured ears, a pin secured in said ears, a curved arm mounted on said "in, a cover rovided with spaced aperture ears pivots. ly connected to the free end of said arm, and a shoulder formed on said arm adapted to engaoe the plate carried by the standard so as toliold the arm up in a vertical position.
