Specification of Letters Patent; Application filed December 10, 1907. Serial No. 405,880.
Patented Aug. 18, 1908.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SIDNEY Ross MAOKAY, a subject of the King of England, residing at Glace Bay, Cape Breton, in the Province of Nova Scotia and Dominion of Canada, have invented a new anduseful Hair-Tonic, of which the following is a specification.
' This invention relates to a hair tonic.
The object of the invention is to provide a tonic of the above character that will thoroughly cleanse the skin of the head, overcome cankerous diseases which cause the hair to fall out,"remove and prevent scur and dandruff, and'produce a new growth of air.
With the above and other objects in view, as will appear as the nature of the invention s better understood, the same consists in the novel hair tonic hereinafter described and claimed.
The tonic consists of the following ingredients by weight and measure: rosemary, (Rosmammus oflicinalis) 1 ounce; southern wood (Artemisia, abro'tcnum), 1 ounce; water, 3 gills; olive oil, 6 ounces; rose water, 3 ounces; spirits of ammonia, 2 ounces; tincture of cantharides, 1 ounce; attar, of roses,

In compounding the tonic the following is observed: The leaves, tender tops and flowers of the rosemary and the leaves and stems of the southern wood are placed in the water and the whole is allowed to boil for ten minutes after which the decoction is strained and the other i edients added.

. For the treatment of baldness, a towel is ed into hot water, is wrung out, and applied to the bald part of the head as hot as can be borne for one or two minutes. The restorer or tonic is then applied and rubbed in well with the hands, and the head is then brushed freely. should be shaved once aweekuntil the hair gets strong. The treatment should be followed once a day and the tonic thoroughly shaken before being used.
For treatment to prevent hair falling out, the head should be covered with a hot towel for two minutes or more, and then rubbed with the tonic, care being taken that the restorer reaches all parts of the scalp affected.
Havin thus described the invention what is claime is The herein described hair tonic consistin of a mixture of olive oil, rose-water, spirits o ammonia, tincture of cantharides, attar of roses, and an aqueous decoction of a mixture of the leaves, tender tops and flowers of rosemary, and the leaves and stems of southern wood, substantially in the propprtions stated.
