Specification of Letters Patent.

Be it known that I, WILLIAM STERLING H001), a citizen of the United States, residing at 954 Clack avenue, Memphis, in the county of Shelby andState of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Screen Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to Window screen brackets and its object is to provide means whereby the screen may be readily hung in the window frame and quickly removed therefrom; the bracket embodying such means having a form that will impart rigidity and strength thereto and adapted to be secured to the screen frame in such a manner as to avoid any projection of the bracketbeyond the frame.
To these ends my invention is embodied in preferable form in the device hereinafter described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
In these drawings, Figurel is a front view in elevation of a window frame showing a screen in place and carrying my attachment; Fig. 2 is a detail view in front elevation of one of the brackets and a part of the screen frame; Fig. 3 is a side view in elevation showing the bracket secured to the screen frame, and Fig. 4 is a rear view in elevation of the screen frame showing the bracket secured thereto.
Referring to the drawings, 1 is a window frame of ordinary construction in which is adapted to be mounted, a screen frame 2. Rigidly secured at the twoippcr corners of this screen frame are brackets 3 each of the same construction. The bracket consists of a triangular piece of flat metal having top and side arms 4 and 5, respectively, which are joined by a cross-brace 6, integral with the arms 4 and 5, and forming the third leg of the triangle. Extending from the arm 5 of the bracket at right angles thereto is a flat plate 7, bearing against the side of the screen frame and having its upper edge extending parallel with the upper edge of the top arm 4. The upper edge of the entire bracket is thus substantially flush with the edge of the screen frame. and the vertical edge of the plate 7 is also within or flush with the inner edge of this frame whereby a bracket Without any projecting portion, such as would-tend to interfere with the roper fitting of the screen within the win(v ow frame,
or the closing of the window upon the upper edge of the screen, is avoided.
Formed in the plate 7, is a pin-engaging slot 8, extending upward diagonally and terminating in the semi-circular portion 9, which is adapted to fit over and engage a pin or nail secured to the window frame. The edges of the slot coincide with the edges of a slot or cut-away recess 10 formed in the screen frame and into which the pin or nail projects. The diagonally shaped and curved slots formed provide a hook-shaped attachment device by which the frame may'be readily hung on the pin or nail, will be securely held thereto when in place and may be readily removed by pivotally swinging the screen outward and lifting the bracket.

Having thus described my invention what I claim is:-
1. A screen-hanging device consisting of a bracket having a vertical and a horizontal arin fitting respectively the vertical and horizontal edges of the screen-frame, and having a cross brace arm integral with and joining the ends of the other two arms whereby a triangular bracket is formed, said bracket provided with means to detachabiy engage a suitable support in the window frame, substantially as described.
2. A screen hanging attachment lying flush with or wholly within the edges of the screen frame and consisting of a bracket having a part'extending on the front part of the screen frame and a part extending on the side of the frame, said side part of the bracket being confined within the area of the side bar and, having a slot to receive a suitable support in the window frame, whereby there, is no projection of the at tachment beyond the screen frame, substantially as described.
3. In combination With a. Window screen frame, a frame hanging bracket secured thereto, said frame having a slot to engage a pin on the Window frame, and said bracket having a plate-like extension confined Within the area of the screen frame and having a slot above and corresponding to the frame slot and engaging said pin, substantially as described.
4. A screen hanging bracket having a part adapted to fit on the front of the screen frame, and apart at right angles thereto adapted to fit flush against the edges of the side of the frame, said side part having a slot with a semi-circular opening at the nd, and 15 said frame having a similar slot over which the slot in the bracket fits, substantially as described.
