CLOTHES-RACK.
Patented Aug. 4, loos.
Application filed August 2, 1907. Serial No. 386,777.
- cheap, simple, strong, durable and attractive looking clothes rack which may be used on and readily attached or detached from the foot of aniron, brass, or other metallic bedstead.
In the accompanying drawings, Fi ure 1 is a perspective view of a clothes rac constructed in accordance with my invention, showing the same attached to the foot of an iron bedstead. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of my improved clothes rack, on a larger scale.
My improved clothes rack comprises a bar 1 and depending arms 2 at the ends thereof. In ractice, and as here shown, the said bar am arms are formed integrally and may be formed from a piece of pipe of suitable length and diameter. bent as shown. The said arms 2 are bent at points a suitable distance from the lower ends thereof to form offset-s 3, and the said arms are preferably connected together by a cross bar 4 which is disposed at a suitable distance from and below the bar 1, and is here shown as provided with collars or head 5 at its ends through which the arms 2 extend, the said heads or collars being disposed at a suitable height above the offsets 3.
On the front sides of the arms '2 at a suitable distance from the lower ends thereof, are downwardly extending hooks 6, to engage the horizontal rail a of the foot or head of a metallic bedstead. In the lower ends of the said arms 2 are clips 7 to bear against the posts I) of the bedstead. Inthe embodiment.
of the invention here shown, the said clips are secured to heads 8 which are secured to the lower ends of the said arms. I do not limit myself in this. particular. The cross bar 1 of the rack, whichis disposed, as will be observed by reference to Fig; 1 of thtadrawing, on the foot or head of thebedstead as the case may be, is provided with outwardl extending hooks 9 for hanging clothes t iere from of which hooks any suitable number may be used, and the said books may be of any suitable construction. I also provide the said cross bar 1, preferably at points near the ends thereof, with upstanding )ins or studs 10 on which articles, parts or t-lielike, may be placed. It will be understood that my improved rack may be made of any desired size or shape, that it will conform in uidth to that of the bedstead on which it is to used, and that it may be readil attached to the bedstead by merely app ying the clips 7 to the bedstead and engaging the books 6 with the bar a of thebedstead.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new, is:-
1. A detachable clothes rack for bcdsteads comprising an upper horizontal bar, arms depending therefrom and provided at their ower ends with clips to bear u )on posts of the bedstead, a lower horizontal bar carried by the arms, the latter being formed with offsets below said lower horizontal bar to project the lower ends of the arms in a plane of the upper ends of the arms and the bars, and
hooks upon said lower ends of the arms be-.
tween the clips and ofl'sets to engage a cross bar of the bedstead.
2. A detachable clothes rack for bedsteads comprising an upper horizontal bar, upright arms depending therefrom and having inwandly projecting oti'sets adjacent their lower ends, the latter being provided with clips to bear upon posts of the bedstead, a lower horizontal arm connected with the arms above said offsets, hooks upon the lower ends of the arms between the clips and offsets to engage a cross bar of the bedstead, and clothes supporting devices on the upper cross bar.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses;
. J AMES B. BAUM.
