Description
No. 895,078. PATBNTED AUG. 4, 190a.
P. DUPPBNSGHMITT. BRACELET, BANGLE, RING, AND THE LIKE.
APPLICATION TILED AUG. 3, 1907- UNITED STA PHILIP]? DGPPENSCHMITT, OF PFORZHEIM, GERISIANY.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PHILIP? D6PPEN- somrrrr, a, citizen of the German Empire, residing at Pforzheim, in the Grand Duchy of Baden, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in and Relating to Bracelets, Bangles, Rings, and the Like; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in'the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention relates to improvements 1n bracelets, bangles, finger-rings and the like of coiled serpentine form and to such as are provided on their periphery with ornaments or the like as for example rosettes,
lockets, or watches. According to the present invention these mountings are arranged on the bracelet, ring or the like in such a way that they are securely held in spite of not being rigidly connected by being soldered riveted or similarly rigidly secured the advantage being that thesaid mountings can be interchanged. For this pur )ose the objects to be fastened on the bracelet, ring or the like are provided with eyes with which they are placed upon the bracelet, ring or the like, the eyes being threaded on the latter preferably atthe thinner tail-end of the serpentine helix and being moved along up to the places determined for them.
In the accompanying drawing a bracelet and a ring are represented by way of example of different forms.
In said drawings: Figure 1 is a plan of a bracelet, and Fig. 2 a side elevation of the same with a watch mounted thereon, Fig. 3 is a. plan, and Fig. 4 a side elevation of a rosette with arabesques at the sides of the same adapted to be fastened on a bracelet. Fig. 5 is a view of the rosette shown in Fig. 4 this view being seen from a' direction at right angles to that from which the elevation in Fig. 4 is seen. Fig. 6 is a plan of a fingerrmg.
The bracelet and ring shown by way of example in Figs. 1 and 6 are constructed in a well-known form as a serpentine bracelet and serpentine ring respectively.
The objects to be fastened on the bracelet Specification of Letters Patent.
\ Application filed August 8, i907. Serial No. 386,913.
TES PATENT OFFICE.
BRACELET, BANGLE, RING, AND THE LIKE.
Patented Aug. 4, 1908.
or ring are of various kinds. In the case of the bracelet (Figs. 1 and 2) a watch 4 and stones 5 are mounted. These objects are fitted underneath or 011 their mountings with eyes 6. These eyes areplaced over the tail-end 3 and are shifted along until they reach the place determined for them.
In order to produce a certain amount of friction between the bracelet or ring and the eyes 6, which friction opposes the displacement of the object provided with the eye, the eyes are lined in their interior with a layer 7 (Fig. 5) of suitable elastic material (for example, cork).
Figs. 3 and 4 show an ornament consisting of three parts, namely, of a rosette and two arabesques at the sides of the latter. Each of the three parts forming the ornament is provided underneath with an eye 6 for the urpose of enabliln it to be attached to a bracelet or the like. As is evident the owner of such a bracelet is able to it it up as desired. It can be used plain as wel as ornamented according to desire by the addition of a watch, stones, or other ornaments.
The objects to be mounted can be grouped according to desire and taste of the individual.
The finger-ring (Fig. 6) can be fitted with any desired objects in the same manner as the bracelet (Figs. 1 and 2), said objects being likewise provided with attachment-eyes.
Having now described my invention I declare that what I desire to secure by Letters Patent is: 4
An ornament adapted to be worn comprising in combination amember in the form of a helix and a series of ornamental devices each independent of the others and provided with a single eye corresponding in diameter to that of said helical member in order that the said devices may individually appear at difl'erent arts of the circumference of the periphery ot the bracelet.
, Intestimony whereof, I have signedmy name to this specification in the presence of two subscribin witnesses.
ERNEST ENTENMANN.
