UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CARL SCHRAYSSHUEN, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND, ASSIGNOR TO SPEIDEL CHAIN 00., A FIRM COMPOSED OF FREDERICK SPEIDEL AND EUGEN SPEIDEL, BOTH OF PFORZHEIM, GERMANY, DOING BUSINESS A'l PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
BAND BRACELET.
Application filed January 3, 1927. Serial No. 158,552.
This invention relates to an improved construction of band type of bracelet; and has for its object to provide such a bracelet formed of a master ring having a plurality of ornaments fixed in spaced relation about its periphery and having a plurality of sep arate rings connected to said ornaments to lie side by side with the master ring to form when assembled a band bracelet.
lVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In ,the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved band bracelet.
Figure 2 is an edge view of the band bracelet with one of the ornaments partly in section.
Figure 3 is a side elevation of one of the rings detached.
Figure 4 is an edge view showing a plurality of ornaments as connected to the master ring with the other rings of the bracelet removed.
Figure 5 shows the ornaments as connected to the .master ring and a plurality of other rings positioned on either side thereof to cooperate with the master ring, also showing the edge rings in position to be .snapped into place to engage and be held by the ornamental members.
It is found of advantage in the construction of an ornamental bracelet resembling somewhat the so-called slave bracelet type having large ornaments or settings for gems or other ornaments arranged about the bracelet and to secure these ornaments in spaced relation about a master ring and also to provide a plurality of separate rings which may be of a variety of colors, such as yellow gold, white gold and green gold, which may be snapped or otherwise positioned in engagement with these ornaments on the master ring to cooperate with the 'master ring to form a band member of a variety of different colors; also to connect ornaments. of a variety of designs to this master ring to provide a variety of designs either as gem settings or other ornaments; and the following is a detailed description of the present embodiment of my invention this band I have attached a plurality of ornaments 11.
These ornaments are herein shown as being of the box type of gem settings in which large gems 12 of various shapes and colors are seated each on its shoulder 18 and retained in the setting by the bending of the lip' 14 over the edge of the gem. In this construction, it will be seen that the central under portion 15 of the setting is hollow and the peripheral edges 16 of thesetting rests upon the periphery of the master ring where these edges are firmly secured by solder or otherwise, thereby permitting an arcuately curved portion of the periphery of this ring to extend up into the recess of the hollow portion of the setting.
By this construction, it will be seen that the separate or independent rings 17 in. order to be positioned along side of the master ring 10 must be snapped beneath the side edges 18 of the gem setting, which side edges due to the engaged curved portion of the ring serves to prevent these rings from being inadvertently removed from engagement with the settings and as many of these separate rings may be snapped into these gems on each side of the master ring as is necessary to fill the space between the master ring and the edges 18 of the setting, thus providing a broad band made up of a multiplicity of these rings which may be assembled all in a single color or the band may be made up of rings of a variety of colors to suit the tastes of the different wearers and these different detachable rings may be made interchangeable with difl'erent band brace lets so that they may be removed and the different wearers may exchange them one for another, if desired to perform the function somewhat of a friendship bracelet.
My improved construction of bracelet is very inexpensive to manufacture as the labor of assembling the parts is reduced to the minimum and by the use of rings of differ;
ent colors may be made up with a variety or different artistic effects and when completed is very handsome and attractive in appearance.
The foregoing description is directed solely towards the cons' ruction illustrated, but I desire it to be undo od that I reserve the privilege of reserting to all the rneclianical changes to which the device is susceptible, the invention lasingdefined and limited only by the terms of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A band bracelet comprising a master ring, a plurality of ornaments fixed in spaced relation about said ring, means in said ornainenis "for rcce a ;,::,:nd a plurality of separate rings of o spending size received in said receiving means to lie side by side with said master ring to form when assembled a band bracelet 2. A band bracelet comprising ailinaster ring, a plurality of ornaments fixedtesaid ring in spaced relation about its periphery, means in said ornaments for receiving olhc'r rings and a plurality of so} irate rings ar ranged to snap inco engagement with said receiving nieans to fornrwhen assembled a band bracelet.
A band bracelet comprising ZLl'illSiOi' ring, a plurality of ornan'ienl slixe to said ring in spaced relation about its circumference, the inner surface of said ornaments being recessed, and a plurality of separate flexible rings arranged to have portions of their peripheries snap into the recesses in saidornainents to liornii when assembled with the master rin band bracelet. a
A band bracelet comprising a master ring a plurality of ornaments fixed to said ring in spaced relation about its circumference, said ornaments being recessed in their inner surface, and a plurality oi: separate flexible rlngs snapped into engagement with ell-her side of the master ring to jointly form I a band oi extended \vidth.
