This invention has relation to a ty e of "3,10 burner for utilizing liquid fuel, suct vas `1:\ gaslene, naphtha, coal oil, etc., and which may be employed either in a cook stove or in heating stove, according as the burner is to be arranged in a horizontal or in a vertical position, the construction of the burner eing substantially. vhe same in both forms,
the only di'erence bein(r in the arrangement of the flame outlets, w uch in the burner for cook stoves extend lengthwise and in the burner des'gned for heating stoves run crosswise of the burner. The burner embodies in its construction, a )ipe 1 for containing a quantity of liquid iuel, and said pi e may be connected with a font, tank or t 1e like for supplying the liquid fuel continuously, thereby obviating the necessity for charging the burner at intervals. passes to supply that consumed when the urner is in operation. f' A cylinder 3 is fitted upon the pipe 1 and is spaced therefrom, said space being closed at its ends and adapted to or granular nature. The pipe 1 is likewise filled with an absorbent, such as mineral wool or cotton waste. The cylinder 3 is provided with openines 4 in its sides, said openings being covered by wire gauze 5 to prevent the passage therethrough of the granular material em loyed for filling the spaces. A double walle cylinder 6 encircles the cylinder 3 and is spaced therefrom, the ends sand or granular material filled therein. The space between the inner and outer walls comprising the double walled'cylinder 6 is closed at its ends and is filled with either asbestos or fire clay or any other refractory sides of the double walled cylinder 6 and extend through both shellsthereof and receive and are fitted with wicks 9, the inner ends of said wicks entering the space formed between the cylinders 3 and 6 and having the granular filling material 10 surroundino the same. The openings 7 extend lengthwise of the burner, as indicated in Figs. 1 and 2, and crosswise of the burner, as shown in Fig. 3,

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:- A

In apburner for consuming liquid fuel, the combination 'of a. perforated pi e, a double Walled cylinder fitted upon sai pipe and spaced therefrom' and having said space l supplied with filling material and closed at opposite ends, said cylinder having corresponding openings in both walls, tubes fitted inthe openings of the walls of the said cvlinder, and wicks fitted in said tubes and having -their inner ends extendedy into the space between the double walled cylinder and perforated pipe embedded in the filling material.
2. In a burner of the character specified, the combination of a perforated pipe, a cylinder fitted upon said pipe and s aced therefrom and having the space close at its ends,
