To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I; JOHN D. CAMPBELL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pull-Supports, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to pull supports, particularly to drop pull supports.

Heretofore drop pull supports have been secured to articles, for instance to drawers of furniture, by means of bolts, formed with or connected to the supports, inserted through holes, bored entirely through the front of the drawer, and having nuts screwed on their ends, and it will therefore be seen that in the instances mentioned, which are only several of many, holes had to be bored entirely through the drawer front, which method has been found to be undesirable for many reasons, chief of which is, that the nuts work off the bolts allowing them to be pulled out and the drop pulls to come off.

It is therefore the object of my invention to provide a drop pull support having means for securing it to an article against accidental removal and without requiring holes to be bored entirely therethrough, but which is also adapted to secure my pull in place by utilizing holes bored entirely through the article, thereby allowing it to be substituted for the styles of pull supports mentioned.

It has for a further object to provide a pull support of the character set forth embodying advantages in point of simplicity and inexpensiveness of construction, strength, durability and perfect results.

In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the drop pull support. Fig. 2 is a front elevation of a portion of a drawer showing my invention applied, and Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view taken 33 of Fig. 2.

1 and 2 designate the members of my pull support, both of which are formed of steel, brassiron or any other suitable metal.

The member 1, which is preferably in one piece, embodies a semi-cylindrical ring or annulus forming a head 3 and having a hole 4 therethrough, a notch 5 in its edge and a tongue 6 which extends below said head and is provided with engaging means, shown in the drawings as prongs 7, cut and pressed out therefrom, said tongue being bent to form a loop or eye 8 which engages the notch and extends above the head forming a bearing for the end of a pull 9, two of their supports being necessary for the form of pull shown in the drawings. The engagement of the loop of the tongue with the notch of the head serves to hold the tongue and loop firm and makes a stron compact device.

The member 2 consists of a pin having a head 10 and is adapted to be inserted through the hole in the head of the other member and driven in, which has the effect of forcing the tongue of the other member laterally.

The length of the tongue and pin of the support is governed by the depth of the hole into which they are inserted, in case the hole is not bored entirely through the drawer front, and if the hole is bored entirely through the drawer front their length is governed by the thickness of the drawer front so that they will not project into the interior thereof.

' To secure this support to a drawer, a hole is bored in its front of a depth not to extend entirely therethrough, the tongue is inserted into the hole and the pin is inserted through the hole in the head into the hole in the drawer front and driven home or entirely in,

.which will have the effect of forcing the ,tongue laterally and causing the prongs thereon to engage walls of the hole, thereby securing the support.

I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise details and arrangements of parts shown and described, but reserve-the right to all modifications within the scope of my invention. 4

Having now described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1'. In a device of the character set forth, a member having a head provided with a hole, an eye projecting above said head and a tongue projecting below said head and a member adapted to be inserted through said hole and force said tongue laterally, substantially as described.

2. In a device of the character set forth, a member having a head provided with a hole, an eye projecting above said head and a tongue projecting below said head and provided with prongs and a member adapted to be inserted through said hole and force said tongue laterally, substantially as described.

6. In a device of the character set forth, a member having a head provided with a hole, a tongue projecting below said head and having a loop forming an eye and a member embodying a pin adapted to be driven through said hole and force the tongue laterally, substantially as described.

7. In a device of the character set forth, a member having a head provided with a hole an eye projecting above said head, engaging means projecting below said head and a member adapted to be inserted through said hole, and force said engaging means laterally, substantially as described.

8. In a device of the character set forth, a member having a head provided with a hole an eye projecting above said head, engaging means projecting below said head and a member embodying a pin adapted to be driven through said hole, and force said engaging means laterally, substantially as described.
