HOMER D. JONES, OF HAILEY, IDAHO.
FISHING-CREEL ATTACHMENT.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HOMER D. JONES, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Hailey, in the county of Blaine and State of Idaho, have invented new and useful Improvements in Fishing-Creel Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved receptacle made of aluminum or other suitable sheet metal and adapted for attachment to a fish ing creel to hold a fly or tackle book, and the same consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings,Figure 1 is an elevation of a creel showing my improved fly or tackle book holder or receptacle attached thereto. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the holder or receptacle, showing the inner side of the same. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view of the same. Fig. 4 is a de tail perspective view showing the front and rear parts of the holder disconnectedfrom each other.
In the construction of my improved fly or tackle book holder or receptacle I provide a back plate 1 which is preferably of rectangular form and of suitable size, and the same is provided in the side and bottom edges with openings 2. I also provide a front plate 8 which has its side and lower portions bent to form side walls 4 and a bottom 5 which are provided with integral studs or spurs 6 adapted to pass through the openings 2 and to be clenched on the outer side of the back plate, as at 7 in Fig. 2, to secure the front portion of the holder or receptacle to the rear portion thereof. Securing spurs 8 are attached to the outer side of the back plate at points near the upper and lower sides thereof and are adapted to be passed through one side of the creel or through a coat or other garment and to be clenched on the inner side thereof so as to detachably secure the holder or receptacle to the creel or garment, as will be understood.
A cord 9, which is disposed to form a loop or bight in the holder or receptacle, has one Specification of Letters Patent.

attach it to the back and has its opposite end passed through an opening 11 in the front of the receptacle and provided with a The fly or tackle book or other object placed in the holder or receptacle bears in the body of the said cord.
It will be understood that by drawing outwardly on the front end of the cord the same will be caused to raise the said book or other object so that its upper end will be extended above the upper end of the holder or receptacle to enable such book or other object to be readily grasped and removed from such holder or receptacle.
A lid or cover 13 is provided for the upper end of the receptacle or holder, and the same is hinged to the upper edge of the back plate, as at 14. Springs 15 are provided which act to normally hold the lid or cover in a closed position.
It will be understood from the foregoing description that my improved receptacle or holder forms a very convenient means for carrying the slide or tackle book used by an angler and may be attached to a creel or to a coat or other garment at will.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is
A fly or tackle book holder comprising a rearplate having openings near its side and bottom edges, a front plate having its side and lower portions bent to form side walls and a bottom respectively, said side walls and bottom provided with integral studs secured in said openings of flue back plate, a lid for the upper end of the holder hinged to the back plate and bendable spurs secured on the outer side of the back plate to enable said holder to be attached to a creel or other like object.
In testimony whereof, I afliX my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
