UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERBERT .I. FROST, OF GLENRIDGE, NEW JERSEY.
FISHERMANS FLY AND BAIT BOOK.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IIERBERT J. FRosT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Glenridge, in. the county of Essex, State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Fishermans Fly and Bait Book, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to books intended for the use of fishermen in carrying flies, bait, etc, the object of the invention being to provide a simple, durable, efficient and compact fly-book or bait-carrier wherein the flies or bait will be amply protected, kept moist if desired, and be readily accessible and convenient for ins eetion and use.
The invention is embodied in the book illustrated in the accom )anying drawing, forming part hereof, in wl1ich Figure 1 shows-the book open; Fig. 2 is a front view of the en book; Fig. 3 is a section on line 9c-:c 0' Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is a front view of a fly holder; and Fig. 5 is a sectional view of the same.
In the drawing, the reference character designates a foldable back, which, preferably, is made of a flexible material, such as leather; 11, the closing flap thereof, which is provided with one member, as the socket 12, of a snap (glove) fastener, the co-acting member of which snap fastener is fast to the back 10; 13, a short flap attached along one edge to the back 10 and provided with snap- fastener members 14, 15; and 16 is a covering flap provided with the member complementary to the member 15 aforesaid. The snap-members 11 complementary to the socket members 14 are attached to the back 10 and are long enough to ermit of the placing thereon of one or more i -holding pockets 19, which are eyeleted to s ip over said long members. The flap 13 thus retains said fly-holders 19 in place, with their open ends under the attached end of the fla 16. Preferably the holders 19 are formed of a flexible transparent front (as celluloid) and an opaque or translucent back, and the fronts may be provided with a corrugated, notched or serrated portion at or near its open end to aid in preventing the sli ping out of the flies, as shown at 20. The bee and front of the pocket 19 may be bound together along three edges, as by a leather or clothbinding 21 and stitching. In order to prevent sticking, the fronts and backs (or either) of the pockets 19 may be corrugated, as at 22.
A partition 23' ma be placed behind the fly pockets 19 in or or to form a compart- Specifieation of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 11, 1908.

ment for bills, papers, etc, said partition being attached along one edge and at both ends to the back 10.
In order to keep the flies or bait moist, a metal box 24 may be attached to the back 10 in a position parallel to the pockets l0, and this l)OX and its hinged cover 25 may each have absorbent pad 26 (of felt, for instance) attached thereto by rivets or fasteners 27.
What is claimed as new is- 1. A foldable fishermans flybook consisting of a back, a fly-pocket, means for attaching said pocket to said back, a flap for covering said pocket, a metal box attached to said back parallel to said pocket and having a hinged cover, a moisture pad in said box, and a closing flap for said book.
2. A fishcrman's foldable fly-book comprising a back, a flap connected along one edge thereof to said back, snap-fasteners for connecting an opposite edge of said flap with. said back, and an eyeleted fly-holder held in place by said snap fasteners.
3. A fishermans foldable fly-book comprising a back, a flap connected along one edge thereof to said back, snap fasteners for connecting an opposite edge of said flap with said back, an eyeleted fly holder held in place by said snap fasteners, a box attached to said back and provided with a cover and pads, and a snap-held closing flap.
4. A flshermans foldable fly book comprising a back, a flap connected along one edge thereof to said back, snap fasteners for connecting an opposite edge of said flap with said back, an eyeleted fiyholder held in place by said snap fasteners, said book being pro vided with a compartment back of said flyholder, a flap connected to said back to cover said flyholder, and a snap fastener for fastening the last named flap.
5. A fishermans foldablc fly book comprising a back, a flap connected along one edge thereof to said back, snap f asteners for connecting an opposite edge of said flap with said back, an eyeleted and corrugated flyholder held in place by said snap fasteners, said book being provided with a bill compartment behind said flyholder, a flap connected to said back to cover said flyholder, and a snap fastener for connecting the last named 'flap with the back.
