Description
No. 893,459. PATENTED JULY 14-, 1908 L. J. DAVIS.
SANITARY BELT: 'APPLIUATIOH FILED APEQZZ, 1907.
SANETARY HE. .tl.
Specification of Letters Pate t. t.
Patented. July 1 1-. 1908.
To all whom it may concern: i
Be it known that .l liirv'ronn J. DAYIS, a citizen of the United States, resi ling at the t eity of Battle Creek, eounty of Calhoun, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sanitary Belts, of which the following is a speeilieal tton.
This invention relates to improvements in eatamenial devices.
The main object ofthis invention to provide an improved buckle or attached device whir-h is particularly desirable for use in eonneetion with sanitary belts, althou 'h it. is adapted for use in other relations.
Further objeets, and objects relating to details of eonstruetion will delinitelv appear from the detailed deseript'ion to follow.
i aeeomplish the obieets of my invention by the devices and means described in the ft)ll )\\'l1l;3j speeilieation.
The invention is clearly detined and pointed out. in the claims.
A strueture embodying the features of my invention is elearl illustrated in the aenonn partying drawing, forming a part of this speeiltcz-ttion, in which,
Figure 1 is a detail perspeetive view of a strueture embodying the features of my iii-- vention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the. buckle or att aehing; deviee. l itt. I3 is a cross seetion thereof taken on a line eorrospomling to line llil of Fig. 2.
in the drawing, the sectional View is taken looking; in the direetion of the little arrows at the ends of the seetion. line, and similar numerals of referenee refer to similar parts throughout, the -everal views.
Referring to the drawing, the belt is made up of a pair of straps t -i, \rhieh are eonneeted by a pair f eoupling members 3. 1 'lhese members 2 are eaeh provided with three slots as It) arranged in a trhmgu'tar po sition. 'l'he belt straps t l are prm'idedi with bueltles 4 by means of whieh they may t be adjusted, ontof the straps having a hook I atits forward end adapted to engage the i \lUl in the front eoupling member. win-rel t it ma be readily disengaged. t
'lhe buel les or fastening members preferably onsist of the t'(eltt1t {1'tll:tt' frame ti, formed of a single pieee of wire, the ends of the wire being brought together at the inner end of the frame. leross the top of the framiis a Tshaped eross pieee 7, formed of sheet metal havin its ends folded about he t trtme in engaging thi speeihed.
sides of the frame and about the upper end, of the. frame, embracing: the abutting ends of the frame wire, effectively securing the same together, and also eoaeting with the frame to form the strap loops ll in whieh the ends of the supporting straps 5 are se eured. Thesesupportin traps areloopedor slidabl arranged through the bottom openings in the coupling members 2. An adjust able engaging member 5%, which is also preferably fortnedof sheet metal, is slidabl mount ed on the frame preferabl by folding its ends around. the side portions of the frame, so that it is slidable thereon, as elearly appears in Fig. 3. This adjustable engaging member is preferably somewhat i-shaped. in cross section and is offset so that its engaging portion passes down beside the bottom portion of the frame eoaeting therewith to engage the napkin as .l. B thus forming and. arranging the parts, I seeure in a very simple and eeonmuirail. manner, a buckle, or fastening, which may be readily attarhed. or disengaged, and one whieh holds the napkin in a very desirable manner. The belt. also very eonvenient, and is arranged so that it is easily attaehed and is very eomfortahle for the wearer.
l hare. illustrated and deserihed my improvement in detail in the form preferred by me on account of its struetural simplieity and eeonomy. l am aware, however, that it. is capable ,of (imisiderable variation in struetural details without departing, from my invention.
llaringk thus deseribed ill) invention what i t'laim as new and desire to set-tire ta lie ters latent is:
t. it. buelde eontprisingj a frame formed of ingle pteee of wire, the ends ol' the wire mu brought. together at the upper end ol a b the frame: a T-shaped eross-pieee formed of sheet metal llttYlHfl its ends folded about the sides of sair ham and about. the upper end thereof to embraee the ends of the frame wire, said eross pieee eoaeting with said frame to form a. pair of strap openings; and an mliustable engaging memheu slidably mounted on the side pier-e of said frame. adapted to eoaet with the outer end of the artiele to be seeured,
2. A buelrle eontpt'lsing a frame formed of a single pie-ee of wire,. the ends of the wire beinf.- broughttogether at, the upper end of the frame; a. rsltaped. oross-pieee formed of g I d $98,459
' sheet metal having its ends folded about the y In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set thereof to embrace the ends of the frame witnesses.
sides of said frame and about the upper end my hand and seiil in the presence of two 10 Wire; and an adjustable engaging member slidebly mounted on the "side pieces of said LINFORD D frame, adapted to coect with the outer end Witnesses; a of the frame in engaging the article to be E. MAE RICHTMYER, secured, as speclfied. DORA M. LUTZ.
