The whole operation is capable of being done with much greater ease and in less time than it takes to tell it; and should the contents of the package become less and the tension of the cord thereby loosened the loops of the cord will still be held in place by the bulges E and H above described.

It will thus be seen that our device is exceedingly simple and certain in operation, and is very cheap to construct. In fact the form disclosed in Fig. 3 with an ordinary cutting die can be made almost at the cost of the metal it contains, for the reason that it may be made out of scrapmaterial, and the other forms with suitable machinery for bending the wire can be made out of wire with a costslightly exceeding the price of the wire. It therefore follows that the cost of this tie is trifling and that it can be easily thrown away by department stores, post-oflices and other users without a material loss to themselves.

Having now described our invention, what we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is I 1. A package tie composed of a sin le piece of metal and provided with a bodi y part; means at one end of the sameto which may be secured the end of a cord or string and a pair of arms at the other end extending towards the opposite end of the body part andprovlded with apex portions, and the bulges E and H, said arms being connected by a crown portion, and a space being left between said crown portion and the extreme lower end of said body portion into which the said cord may be jammed, substantially as described. pack piece of wire h ving a body part; means at each end of said body part for securing a cord or'string thereto, one of said securing means on one end comprising a pair of arms tie composed of a -single' sea-94a extending towards the opposite end of the body part and having bulge port-ions E and H, approaching said body part more closely than other portions of said arms; said wire also having a crown portion G, joining said arms, andleavin a space between the same and the said body part into which a-cord may be securely jammed, substantially as described.

3. A package tie composed of a single piece of wire and provided with a body part,- a means at one end for securing a cord there to, and a pair of arms at the other end ex-' tending towards said first mentioned end and joined by acrown portion, there being a space between the said portion and the lower end of said body portion into which the said cord may be jammed, substantially as described.
