Description
No. 892,575. PATENTED JULY 7, 19,08, A. K. BRAUER.
COMBINATION FASHION PLATE FRAME AND DISPLAY STAND FOR MERCHANDISE.
APPLICATION FILED MAR. 20, 1908.
UNITED STATES ADOLPH K. BRAUER, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
COMBINATION FASHION-PLATE FRAME AND DISPLAY-STAND FOR MERCHANDISE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 7, 1908.
Continuation of application Serial No. 335,033, dated September 17, 1906. This application filed March 20, 1908. Serial No. 422,370.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADoLPi-I K. BRAUER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, county of Los Angeles, State of California, have invented and discovered a new and useful Improvement in a Combination Fashion-Plate Frame and Display-Stand for Merchandise; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to whichit appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in combination fashion plate frame and display stand for articles of merchandise, adapted particularly for exhibiting in show windows of stores of merchant tailors pieces of cloth to be made into articles of wearing apparel, and at the same time disclosing upon the fashion plate in the frame of the stand, the figure of a person wearing garments made from cloth of the same style, design and color, draped upon the stand and around the fashion plate in the frame thereon.
The invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of the several parts as will be hereinafter fully described in the specification shown upon the drawings appended hereto and specifically pointed out in the claims made a part hereof. I attain these objects by the construction and combination of the several parts illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view in elevation of the front of my improved combination fashion plate frame and sup ort therefor; a fashion plate secured in saic frame showing the figure of a person wearing garments made from the same goods of the same style, design and color draped upon the stand and around the frame holding the fashion plate; Fig. 2 is a top plan view looking downward upon the top of my improved display stand and fashion plate frame, the draped cloth or goods illustrated upon Fig. 1 of the drawing removed; portions of my improvement shown in full and dotted lines and parts thereof broken away; and Fig. 3 show views of my improved stand in full and dotted lines parts thereof illustrated in plan view and parts thereof shown in section taken upon the line xw in Fig. 1 looking in the direction of the arrows; and portions thereof broken away; the draped cloth or goods illustrated upon Fig. 1 of the drawing removed.
Similar reference letters and characters refor to like parts throughout the several views of the drawings.
The reference letter (1, denotes the base of my improved display stand, the letter b, indicates the post or standard of the stand, fastened at the lower end thereof at Z) to the base in any well known manner as shown upon Fig. 1 of the drawings, and the letter 0, refers to the fashion plate frame secured to the post or standard I), by means of screws (1,
1 of the drawings.
The letter 0 indicates the fashion plate held within the grooves c of the side pieces 0 of the frame 6, as shown upon Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawings.
The reference letter designates the piece of glass for protecting the fashion plate from being injured, tarnished or soiled and is located within the said grooves c of the side ieces c of the frame 0, in front of the fashion plate as shown upon Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawings.
The reference letter f, denotes spaces or cut-away portions in the upper end of the rear or back piece f of the frame as shown upon Fig. 2 of the drawings. The said cutaway portions f shown in dotted lines upon Fig. 1, and in full lines upon Fig. 2 of the drawings, permit easy and ready removal of the fashion plate (1 and the glass f from the frame .0.
The cloth or goods g, the same material and substantially the same style, design and color of goods as shown upon the figure of the person illustrated upon the fashion plate 0 I drape through the holder 7t secured to the post or standard I) at the top thereof above the frame 0. The ends of the said goods or cloth 1 are draped around the said frame 0 passing through the holders 7t and 7b.
The holders 7t and 71/, I preferably make diamond shape and the holder h, I preferably make circular in form. All those helders I can either make diamond or ring-shaped. The diamond shaped holder 71/ I rigidly secure to one side of the frame 0 by means of the support 7c, as shown upon Figs. .1. and 3 of the drawings and the holder 71/ is preferably hinged at i, to the o )posite side of the frame 1: as illustrated in fu l and dotted lines upon or equivalent devices as illustrated upon Fig.
Fig. 3 of the drawings. All these holders I can rigidly secure to the frame or hinge the same thereto.
One of the objects of my invention is to save time and labor in displaying goods and facilitate the sale of goods exhibiting the goods or material for suitings at different seasons of the year in stores and Windows.
When pieces of cloth or suitings are ordered by merchant tailors from manufacturers of cloth and materials for clothing of certain styles, designs and colors, the fashion plates are also ordered showing the identical distinguishing styles, designs and colors upon garments made up upon figures of persons illustrated upon these fashion plates.
Another object of my improvement is that the fashion plates and the protecting glass are easily removed from the frame a and other fashion plates and the glass after being Washed can readily be inserted in the grooves of the frame Without removing the back f of the frame as ordinarily in use; and cloth or material of the same distinguishing style, design and color can be draped in the holder secured to the standard I) and the holders secured to the frame 0 corresponding With the style, design and color of the made up suit shown upon the figure of the person illustrated upon the fashion plate.
This application is a continuationof application Serial No. 335,033.
I claim 1. A display stand for merchant tailors comprising a frame for exhibiting fashion plates having the figure of a person Wearing garments of distinguishing style, design and color made thereon, a'base and post for supporting the frame, the cloth or suiting-holder fastened to the post above the frame and cloth or suiting-holders secured to the frame for retaining the cloth or suiting of the same style, design and color as shown upon the fig-- ure of the person upon the fashion plate,
2. A display stand for merchandise comprising a frame for exhibiting fashion plates thereon as the garments upon the figure of the person shown upon the fashion plate.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this-specification, in the presence of 'tWo subscribing Witnesses.
ADOLPH K. BRAUER.
