gan, have invented a new and useful Autm matic Printer for Paper-Rolls, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to printing attachments for paper rolls and has for its object to provide a comparatively simple and inexensivc. device of this character capable of eing 1rli uickly attached to or removed from and by means of which an advertisement or. other matter may be rinted on the pa er as the latter is unwoun fromthe roll.
further object of the invention is to provide the printing roller with spaced longitudinal barshaving convex side walls and de fining intermediate ty e-receiving recesses or grooves, "said type eing removably suported in position on the printing roller by ictional engagement with the convex walls ofthe grooves. Afurther object is to provide means .for yieldably supporting the rinting roller in contact with the pa er ro and means for permitting a limite rocking movement of the printing roller thereby to accommodate inequalities in the paper roll.
A still further ob1ect of the invention is to generally im rove this class of devices so as 'to increase t eir utility} durability and effiienc With these and'other objects in view the invention consists in the'construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully'described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, it being understood that various changes in form, proportions and minor details of construction may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part ofthis specification: Figure 1 is a transverse sectional view of a printing attachment constructed in accordance with my invention showing the same in position on a paper roll. The improved device is princi ally desi nod for attachment to paper ro s and the li e for printing an advertisement? or other matter on the wrap ing aper as the latter is unwound from t e ro l, and by way of illustration is shown in connection with a paper roll of the ordinary construction in which 5 designates the roller-supporting frame and 6 the paper roll.
The attachment consists of a lon itudinal bar or supporting member 7 to whidh are secured spaced plates or brackets 8 having their free ends extended beyond the adjacent lon itudinal edge ,of the bar and bent latera y to form terminal eyes 9 for the reception of the roller supporting frame or yoke,

The yoke 10 is provided with an intermediate off-set portion 11 and depending arms 12 the free ends of which are provided with terminal enlar ements or bearings 13 in which is journa led the shaft 14 of the printing roller.
The printing roller consists of spaced disks or Wheels 15 having their inner edges cut away at the periphery of the wheel and provided with spaced recesses or sockets 16 for the race tion of the adjacent ends of the cylindrica connecting bars or-rods 17.
The bars 17 are spaced apart to form intermediate grooves or recesses for the reception of the removable type 18, the latter being preferably formed of rubber or other yieldable material and clamped in position by frictional engagement with the convex walls of the rods'17, as best shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing.
