Be it known that I, FREDERICK R. FIEBKE, a citizen of the United. States of America, residing at Neillsville, in the county of Clark and State of I/Visconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Boards, of which the following is a specification.-

This invention relates to ironing boards, and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide an ironing board pivotally connected to a table so that the ironing board can be folded and swung in under the table top out of the way.

Another object of the invention is to provide an ironing board with suitable braces which can be doubled up and -folded with the board, and to provide a table to which the ironing board is pivoted, said table being provided with suitable sliding drawers for containing various articles, and the entire board being foldable to swing underneath the top of the table.

These and other objects may be attained by means of the Yconstruction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Figure 1. is a side elevation of an ironing board and table made in accordance with my invention, the table being shown partly broken away to illustrate the interior construction, and the ironing board being shown in dotted lines folded in position for swinging the same under the table top. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same with the top of the table removed, and showing the ironing board folded in dotted lines and swung into a compartment under the table top. Fig. 3 is an end view of the same. Fig. 4 is a detail view of the pin for holding the ironing board in place.

Referring to the drawing for a more particular description of the invention, the numeral 1 designates a table provided with drawers 2, 3, which slide into one side of the table and may be utilized for containing various articles about a kitchen, a drawer 4 being arranged to slide at right angles to the drawers 2 and 3 underneath the top 5 of said table. A partition 6 is provided with an aperture 7 therein, and a supporting bar 8 connected to said partition by means of a spring hinge 9 of ordinary construction which normally holds the bar S in a vertical position.

The member 10 of the ironing board is pivotally connected to a pin 11 which extends from the partition 6 to the table top 5, said member 10 having a sliding connection upon the pin 11, andl the inner end of said member 1() having a rabbet 12 which is engaged by the upper end of the bar 8 when the ironing board is withdrawn. A pin 13 is connected to the ironing board 1() and when the board is raised said pin catches into a hole on the underside of the table top. One corner 14 of the ironing board member 10 is rounded so that vwhen the same is folded, it may be swung on the pin 11 underneath the top 5 of the table, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2.

Hinged to the section 10 of the ironing board, by means of a three-leaf hinge 15, is the outer ironing board section 10a, and hinged to the section 10EL are the spaced legs 16,\the hinge 17 being shown in Fig. 1. Said legs are provided with a transversely extending brace 18 provided with feet 19. Pivotally connected upon a pin 20 which connects the legs 16 is a pair of links 21, 22, said links being held in a central position between the legs by means of sleeves 23. Pivotally connected to the link 21 is a pair of brace bars 24, which fit into notches 25 in the lower side of the member 10 of the ironing board. These brace bars diverge like the brace bars 29. The brace bars 24 are pivoted at 26 to the link 21, and the ends of the bars 24 are provided with a notch 27 which engages a stop pin 28 on the link 21. Pivotally connected to the link 22 is a pair of diverging brace bars 29 pivoted at their upper ends, as at 30, to a bracket 81 secured underneath the ironing board section 10a. The bars 29 are pivoted at 32 to the link 22, and are also provided with notches 33 which engage a stop pin 34 to hold the braces in operative position.

The operation of my invention may be brieily described as follows: When the ironing board is in the full line position of Fig. 1, and it is desired to fold and inclose the board under the table top 5, the link 22 and the bars 29 are pushed upward to inclose the link 22 between the bars 29, and to move the legs 16 toward the left until they swing against the member 10a of the ironing board, the braces 24 being swung upon the pivot pin 26 to lie underneath and between the legs 16, and said parts are then swung upon the hinge 15 to the dotted line position in Fig. 1. By then withdrawing the dowel pin 13, the ironing board can be swung upon the pin 11, the bar 8 being then closed down flush with the top surface of the partition 6 in the aperture 7, thus permitting the .mem-

ber 10 to fall upon the pin 11 to come in contact with the partition 6 and allow the entire folded ironing board to swing in under the table top 5, and between the top and the partition 6.

From the foregoing it will be obvious that an ironing board and table made in accordance with my invention is of comparatively simple construction; that the ironing board is folded and swung under the table top out of the Way, and can be quickly Withdrawn and set up for use; and that the table can be usedfor various purposes around a kitchen.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim isi 1. An ironing board and table, said table having a partition under the table top, a supporting bar provided with a spring hinge for normally holding said bar in a vertical position, said partition provided with an aperture to permit said bar to be swung ydown vflush with the upper ,surface thereof, and an ironing board member pivoted to a pin under the Vtable top, said. ironing board being supported `by .the bar in operative position, and adapted to swing lunder the table top on said pin.

2. An ironing board and table comprising a table having a partition under the top,

ysaid partition being provided with an aperture, a bar connected to said partition by a spring hinge and said bar adapted to swing into the aperture, a pin connected to the table top and partition, an ironing board member pivoted upon the pin and adapted to slide thereon, an outer ironing board member hinged to the pivoted member, and

y provided with a recess underneath the top thereof, said ironing board being pivotally connected to said table, a supporting bar for one end of said board, and a pin for holding said board in operative position, substan# tially as described.
