BUCKET.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, SIMEAN J. SIKEs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gainesville, in the county of Alachua-and State of Florida, have invented new and useful Improvements in Buckets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to buckets designed especially for use as turpentine receptacles and has for its objects to provide a comparatively simple, inexpensive device of this character which, in use, will prevent the contents of the bucket from splashing on the clothes of the operator and to provide the bucket with a cut-off member through the medium of which the drip may be readily removed from the spigot after the bucket has been filled.
\Vith these and other objects in view, the invention comprises the novel features of construction and combination of parts more fully hereinafter described.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the bucket embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is a section taken centrally and longitudinally therethrough.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the ucket or receptacle made of sheet metal or other suitable material and provided with ears 2 in which is pivoted a bail or handle 3, there being attached to the upper edge of the bucket and to extend around one side thereof between the ears 2, an upwardly projecting, inwardly inclined guard portion or apron 4 arranged at that side of the bucket which stands next to the operator during transportation of the vessel, while projecting above the mouth of the bucket at a point opposite the guard 4 is a second upstanding guard member or apron 5 which, together with the Specification of Letters Patent. Extending across the upper end of the bucket between the ears 2 is a cut-off member or blade 6 terminally attached to the bucket by rivets or other suitable fastening members 7, said blade being adapted to remove the drip from the end of the spigot after the bucket has been filled.
In practice, the vessel is transported in the usual manner by means of the bail 3 and with that side of the bucket above which the guard 4 projects, disposed toward the o erator, thus preventing the contents 0 the bucket from splashing on the operators clothes, while the guard 5, in like manner, prevents splashing of the contents of the bucket at the other side thereof. After the bucket has been filled, the member or blade 6 may be drawn across the end of the spigot to remove the drip therefrom, as will be readily understood.
Having thus I claim is A turpentine bucket having a pivoted bail or handle and provided at its upper edge with an upwardly projecting inwardly inclined guard flange adjacent to one side of the bail and an upwardly projecting lip adjacent to the other side of the bail, in combination with a cut-off blade extending across the mouth of the bucket and attached to the latter adjacent to the ends of the bail.
