RUSSELL It. CLARK, OF SMITH CENTER, KANSAS.
TICKET-CASE.
' Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 3 1, 1908.
Application filed-Tanuary 30, 1908. Serial No. 413,463.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUssELL R. CLARK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Smith Center, in the county of Smith and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Ticket-Case, of which the following is The said. invention consists in the combination, arrangement and construction of the 7 parts substantially as hereinafter more fully disclosed and pointed out by the claims.
In the accompanying drawing, illustrating Figure 1 is a perspective view thereof. Fig.
2 is a broken sectional elevation of the same.
Fig. 3 is a detail view of the base portion thereof. Figs. 4, 5 and 6 are additional detail views of said invention, the characteristics of which will be hereinafter fully disclosed.
Similar numerals of reference are employed to indicate corresponding parts throughout the several figures of the drawings.
In the embodiment of my invention, I employ an upright casing 1, preferably of the general outline disclosed, and having a forward base extension 2. Within said base extension is arranged a slide or bar 3, conveniently adapted at its forward end for suitable manipulation, said bar being arranged in a longitudinal groove 4, formed in said base member, and having projecting about centrally from its bottom surface an extension or projection 5 to be received in a longitudinal groove 6 in the base member 2. Said slide has, also, suitably arranged therein, a spring 4 having one end connected to said slide, and the other end fixed to the casing 1, the pressure or stress of which is designed to automatically return said slide to its initial position after the manipulation of said slide. Said slide has, also, arranged therein a plate 7 provided with a longitudinal slot 8 and having projecting from its rear upper edge upstanding projections 9, 9, and
upon said plate is arranged an additional plate 10 having a rear edge elevation or shoulder extending clear across thereof for the purpose later made apparent. Said plate 10 is provided with rear end notches or recesses 11 adapted to receive the upstanding projections or lugs 9 of the plate 7. plate 10 has projecting from its lower side a bifurcated lug 12 adapted to stride a lateral, cylindrical or other shaped projection 13, said projection having a dog 14 for engagement with a ratchet 15 formed in a recess 16 in the base member 2, the purpose of which will appear hereinafter.
It will be. noted that the shoulder of the upright portion of the casing 1 is filled or supplied with cards or checks, which it is desired shall be passed to a customer as above intimated, said cards being suitably numbered in consecutive order preferably from the bottom one upwards, the bottom card or ticket resting upon the plate 10. It will now be observed that by suitably actuating the slide 3, it may be movedso that the dog 14 is moved to a point 1*, for instance, and the projection 5 on the slide :3 is moved to a point a a', for instance. Said slide is still further moved until the dog 14 has been moved to the point y, during which movement of said dog frointhe point a to y said dog will have engagement'with the ratchet 15 and after which said dog will become disengaged from said ratchet and the slide 3 allowed. by the action of the s ring .4 to re turn to its initial position. A so, durirn the forward movement of said slide, it will be noted that the bottom ticket or check will have been engaged by the shoulder 10 of the plate 10, and be delivered thereby out through an opening in the lower front portion of the casing 1 for handing to the customer. Also, it will be noted that during the forward movement of such slide, that the lower forward edge of the opening in the front part of said casing 1. will intercept any movement of the card next above during the delivery of said bottom card, thus providing for the retention thereof together with the other superposed cards or tickets in proper position within the casing 1. It is, also, observed that by the engagement of the dog 14 with the rack 15 a clicking action or sound Saidwill be produced therebetween for the purpose of indicating the required outward movement of the slide 3 for the proper delivery of the bottom or desired card, and
thus prevent the disarrangement of the superposed cards which would otherwise occur should the card carryin" late not be properly retracted for the (elivery of the card carried thereby.
A suitable transparent or glass plate front 17 may be arranged in the casing 1 for readily observing thecontents thereof, which plate is suitably held in place by set screws 18 and may be readily removed by the employment of a removable top plate or member 19 arranged upon said casing 1 and adapted for the suitable reception of the upper end of said glass plate front.
It is designed to suitably anchor the tickets in the casing 1 by placing a weight thereon for aiding the downward movement thereof as the same are delivered from said casing.
It will be understood that various changes as to details of construction and arrangement of parts herein disclosed may be made as convenience may suggest Without departing from the spirit of my invention.
I claim 1. A device of the character described adapted to contain cards or tickets, a sliding member arranged in the. base portion of said device, a superposed separable member. carried by said slide adapted to engage a contiguous card or ticket, said slide having a lateral pro'ection and said superposed plate carrying a lug straddling said projection, and means arranged in connection with said lat eral projection for engagement with a ratchet below the same for indicating the limit of the forward movement of said slide.
2. A device of the character described comprising a casing for containing tickets or cards, a slide arranged in the base portion of said casing, a plate superposed upon said slide having a slot therein, an additional late arranged upon the aforesaid plate havmg a pendent lug, said slide having a lateral projection for engagement with said pendent ug, said lateral lug also having a dog, and a ratchet member arranged in said base member adapted to be engaged by said dog; a 3. In a device of the character described slide, a ratchet member arranged in said base member and adapted to be engaged by a dog on said slide.
4. A device of the character described embracing a casing adapted to contain cards,
or tickets, a sliding member arranged in the base portion of said casing, a plate member arranged upon said slidin member having a slot therein, an additiona plate member superposed with relation to the aforesaid plate member and having a pendent bifurcated lug or projection, said slide having a lateral projection adapted to be engaged by said b1furcated lug or projection, said lateral rojection having a dog, and a ratchet mem er arranged in the base ortion of said casing adapted to be engagecFby said dog.
5. A device of the character described comprising a casing adapted to contain cards or tickets, a sliding member arranged in the base portion of said casing, a spring or resilient member adapted to deliver tension or pressure upon said sliding member, a superposed plate member arranged with relation to said slide and having a slot therein, an additional plate member arranged upon the aforesaid plate member and having a pendent bifurcated projection, said slide member having a lateral projection adapted to be strided by said bifurcated projection, said lateral projection having a dog, and a ratchet member arranged in said base portion of said casing adapted to be en aged by said dog.
In testimony that I c aim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signatur in the presence of two witnesses.
RUSSELL R. CLARK.
