To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ELLA MCALLISTER -BENNETT, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Sulphur, Murray county, Oklahoma, have invented new and usefullmprovements in Kitchen-Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to kitchen cabinets, and one of the rincipal objects of the same is to provide a evice of this character which will economize space and in which the various articles and materials kept within the cabinet may be readily accessible for use.

Another object of the invention is to provide a kitchen cabinet in which one of the doors may be opened by a foot pedal thus leavin both hands free to remove articles from t e interior of the cabinet.

These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Referring to the drawings for a more particular description of my invention, the numeral 1 desi nates the back of the cabinet, 2 is the hin e( to and 3 is a table extending outward om t e lower portion of the reduced upper part of the cabinet. Near the top of the reduced upper portion of the cabinet and in front is a pair of doors 4 having glass panels 5 therein, said doors closing a compartment having a horizontal shelf or partition 6. At the left of the doors 4 is a sin le door 7 which opens into a fiour bin 8, sai flour bin being composed of a square sheet metal compartment 9 rovided with hinged front doors 10, and ormed at the lower end of said bin is a reduced discharge chute 11 provided with a cylindrical discharge nozzle 12 having a sieve 13 at the bottom thereof, and an agitator 14mounted to rotate therein, said agitator having a crank handle 15 for operating the same. The metal flour bin is supported upon cleats 16. A shelf 17 extends across below the doors 4. A shelf 18 is disposed below the discharge nozzle in the flour bin for supporting a pan or vessel for catching the flour. Brackets 19 are secured to the side walls for su portin spice cans and hooks 20 are provide in bac 1 for supporting various culinary implements. A she f 21 forming a continuation of the table 3 and spaced therefrom by a slot 22 provides a sup ort for various articles used about the kite en, and a sliding door 23 closes the front opening immediately above the table and extends entirely across the cabinet, said door being providedwith projecting pins 24 which are supported in upwardly projecting hooks or brackets 25 secured to the sides 26 of the cabinet. A handle 27 is provided for the door 23, and u on raisin the door to remove the pins 24 rom the rackets 25 and slightly tilting the door forward at the upper end, will permit said door to drop through the slot 22 to give access to the compartment containing the flour bin and the culinary implements.

An aluminium tray 28 secured by screws 28 to the table 3 is provided for drainin dishes, and as a mold board for mixing bread and for other purposes, said tray being pro- I Vided with a marginal flange 29. Below the front of the table 3 is a door 30, said door being mounted to slide in double flanged guideways 31 secured to the inner edges of the sides 26. Extending through an aperture 32 in one of the sides 26 is a spiral spring 33, the upper end of which is sup orted u on a sta le 34 secured underneat the ta le 3, an the lower end of said spring is connected to one member 35 of a hinge, the other member 36 of which is'secured to the side 26, said spring being connected to a staple 37 projecting u ward from the member 35 of the hinge in line with the aperture 32. The lower edge of the door 30 is supported upon the inwardly projecting member 35 of the hin e, and a connecting rod 38 is secured to t e underside of the member 35 and extends through an aperture 39 in the side 26, and is provided at its lower end with an inwardly ent end 40 to which a foot pedal 41 is connected. An aperture 42 in the side 26 ermits the member 35 to move downwar so that the door 30 may slide downward when the foot is placed u on the pedal 41. A handle 43 is utilized or raising the door 30, for closing the same when the foot is placed upon the pedal 41, and 'after the door has been raised, the foot is removed from the pedal and the member 35 assumes a horizontal osition and supports the lower edge of the cor 30. A strengthening rod 30 extends from top to bottom inside the sides 26.

A vertical partition 44 divides the compartments at the back of the door 30, and a shelf 45 extends across the cabinetin alinement with the bottom of the door 30. The door 30 is mounted in front of a stationary piece or board 46 forming the front of a compartment 47 for various articles and to gain access to the compartment 47, doors 48, at each side of the cabinet, are fitted in guides 49 and each provided with a spring catch 50, havinga projection on the inner side thereof ada te to engage a hole 51 in the side of the ca inet to hold said doors 48 in elevated position whenever access is required to .the compartment 47.

Behind the door 30, a sugar bin 52 is provided, said sugar bin having a top cover 53 and a door 54 at the lower portion thereof.

This sugar bin is mounted upon a slotted arm 55 pivotally attached to a bracket 56, said slotted arm being provided with a set screw 57 for attaching the bin to the arm, thus permitting the same to be moved outward and inward and tilted to remove the contents of the bin.

From the foregoing it will be obvious that a cabinet made in accordance with my invention is of comparatively simple construcceases tion, economizes space, gives ready access to the various culinary im lements required in modern kitchens, can e manufactured at comparatively slight cost, and is very convenient and efficient in use.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:

1. A kitchen cabinet comprising upper compartments having shelves therein and closed by doors, a flour bin in one of said compartments, a table, a sliding door for the front of the cabinet, said sliding door having pins at the opposite sides-thereof, and hooks or brackets connected to the cabinet for supporting said door in closed position.

2. In a kitchen cabinet, the combination of a door fitted to slide in vertical guideways, a table, a hinge, one leaf of which is connected to the cabinet, a sprin connected to the other leaf of said hinge, t e op osite end of said spring being connected to t e lower side of said table, said sliding door being supported upon one leaf of said hinge, a connecting rod attached to said leaf, and a foot pedal attached to said connecting rod.
