' PATENTED MAR. 17. 1908. 0. R. BROWN.
JUG HOLD ER. I
ATION r1 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES R. BROWN, OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, ASSIUNOR 01* ONE-HAM" TO ISAAC ALEXANDER, or
hANSAS (ITY, MISSOURI.
JUG-HOLDER.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, (iiAnLns a citizen of the United States, Kansas City, in the county of J State of Missouri, useful Improvements in Jug Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in jug holders.
The object of my invention is to provide a jug holder for pivotally supporting a jug so that the contents of the jug may be poured therefrom with ease, the holder being provided with means for preventing; displacement of the jug therein during the pouring operation.
My invention comprises a basket, preferably of wire, for Containing the jug, pivotally supported I R. BROWN, residing at ackson and t opposite sides upon a suitable support, the basket being provided with releasable locking means for embracing opposite sides of the neck of the jug.
The novel features of my invention are hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating my invention-Figure 1 is an elevation view of the jug holder looking at one end of the basket support. Fig. 2 is a top view of what is shown in Fig. 1, the jug shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1 being omitted in this view. Fig. 3 is a side elevation view of a portion of the basket, the neck engaging device, and a part of the basket support.
Similar characters of reference denote simi lar parts.
The support comprises preferably two U- shaped wires 1, the side arms of which incline toward and are joined at their upper ends to each other, said upper ends being horizontally inwardly turned so as to form two fulera 2. The jug holding basket comprises the following described parts:
3 and 4. denote two horizontal rings disposed one above the other and disposed at the upper and lower ends and forming a part of the basket. Two diametrically opposite vertical wires have their upper and lower ends connected to the upper and lower rings respectively, said vertical wires being denoted by the numeral 5. The vertical wires 5, have formed therefrom, adjacent their middle portions respectively, coils 6 for pivotally receiving therein respectively, the fulcra 2. Mounted upon the lower ring is a horizontal jug support comprising preferably have invented new and f Specification of Letters Patent.
1906. Serial No. 310,783.
device for embrzning lunged to one side of the neck of the jug is the upper ring 3 and is provided with means for embracing opposite sides of the neck of means for releasably site side of the ring 3.
the pig and also with looking with the oppo- Said neck embracing device comprises preferably a doubled wire 9 adapted to embrace neck of the pig and I one side of the ring opposite sides of the iinged at its ends 9 to I), said doubled wire 9 havin a downwardly and inwardly turned n a portion 10 adapted to spring over and releasably engage the portion of the ring 3 diametrically opposite that portion to which the ends ol the wire 9 are hinged.
.In operating my bracing doubled wire its hinged ends and invention the neck 0111- 9 is upwardly swung on the jug placed in the basket in the position represented in dotted The lines in Fig. 1.
My invention may ring 3. the fulcra 10 is sprung over and The basket may 2 so that the liqthe jug may be poured nibracing device 9 preiping from the et is ti ted to a position of the jug will incline be variously modified without departing from its spirit.
lIavlng thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to out, is
1. In a pig holder,
support having two secure by Letters Patthe combination with a fulcra, oi a pig supporting frame comprising two horizontal rings disposed one above the other, and two oppositely disposed vertical wires connected at their upper and lower ends to the upper and lower rings respectively and having coils formed therefrom for pivotally receiving said two fulcra respectively, and a device for embracin the neck oil the pig comprising a wire doub led to embrace opposite sides of the neck of the jug, the being hinged said doubled wire being downward wardly with the opposite sid ends of the doubled wire to one side of the u per ring, y and inturned so as to spring over and lock e of the upper ring.
2. In a jug holder, the combination with a support, of a basket for containing and su porting the jug, said basket being pivotally mounted at opposite sides upon said support and provided at its upper end. with a hori zontal wire ring forming a part thereof, and a device for embracing the neck of the jug comprising a doubled Wire hinged at its ends to one side of the said ring and adapted to embrace opposite sides of the neck of the jug, said doubled wire having a portion downwardly and inwardly turned so as to spring over and releasably lock with the opposite side of the ring.
3. In a jug holder, the combination with a support comprising two U shaped wires the side arms of which incline toward and are joined at their upper ends to each other, said upper ends being inwardly turned to form I fulcra, of a basket for containing and sup porting the jug, said basket being pivotal supported at opposite sides upon said fulcra, said basket having at its upper end and 5 forming a part thereof a horizontal ring, and a device for embracing the neck of the jug and comprisinga doubled Wire adapted to embrace opposite sides of the neck of the jug and having its ends hinged to one side of the ring and having a portion bent downwardly and inwardly so as to swing over and releasably lock with the other side of said ring. In testimony whereof I affix my signature, in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
