Description

PATENTED MAR. 17, 1908.
W. HOREISGHI.
ADJUSTABLE CHART.
A'PPLIOATION FILED JULY 13, 1906.
UNITED STATES WENZEL HOREISCHI, OF ZURICH, SWITZERLAND.
ADJUSTABLE CHART.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, l/VENZEL I-Ionnlsonr, a citizen of Switzerland, residing at Zurich, Switzerland, have invented new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Charts, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an adjustable chart for designing coats, jackets, bodices and similar garments, the chart being so constructed that adjustments in all directions may be readily effected.
The accompanying drawing represents a front view of my improved chart.
The chart consists of six overlapping sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Front section 1, is adjustably secured to adjoining section 2, by oblique slots a, of the latter that are engaged by guide-pins b, of the former. Slots a, incline upwardly from front to rear, so
that as section 1, is pushed back, it is simultaneously slightly raised. At its top, section 2, has a rearwardly extending flap 7, carrying a scale 8, that cooperates with a corresponding scale 9, on top of section 3. This section 3, has, near its front, inclined slots a, extending downwardly from front torear and engaged by pins 1), of section 2. Thus, as section 2, is pushed backwards, it is simultaneously slightly lowered. Near its back, section 3, has inclined slots a extending upwardly from front to rear and en gaged by pins 6*, that also engage upright slots 10, of section 4. In this way section 4, may be moved backward and forward along section 3, and may also be independently raised and lowered. Section 4, has an upright slot 11, for receiving the pin 5 of a small vertically movable slide 6. This slide has an upper shoulder 19 adapted to move over a scale 13 formed on the left edge of a curved longitudinal slot 12 in section 4, a second scale 14 being formed on the right edge of such slot. Left edge of slot 12 is curved and both edges of slot 11 are curved Specification of Letters Patent.

shoulder 19 points to one-half the chest measure on scale 13. A horizontal line drawn along upper edge of shoulder 19 will now indicate the waist line of the garment, while an upright line drawn along the left edgeof slot 12 and the right edge of slide 6, will indicate the seam between the front and back of the garment beneath the arm hole.
At its upper end, section 4, has an extension 15, carrying a scale 16, that cooperates with a scale 17, on top of back section 5. Section 5, has horizontal slots a engaged by pins 6, that also engage vertical slots a, of section 4, so that section 5, may be adjusted either vertically or horizontally. At its back, section 5, has a scale 18, to mark the back measure upon the garment.
It will be seen that with my improved chart, an accurate adjustment may be obtained, so that the garment may be marked and cut to the exact size and style required.
I claim:
In an adjustable chart, a pattern section having a first curved slot, and a second curved slot having an edge concentric with the first curved slot, combined with a slide having a pin adapted to engage the first curved slot, and a convex edge adapted to register with the edge of the second curved slot, substantially as specified.
Signed by me at Zurich, Switzerland this 21st day of June 1906.
WVENZEL HOREISCHI.
