COUPLING FOR IRON BEDSTEADS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUsT E. BLOMQUIST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the county of I Vinnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Couplings for Iron Bedsteads, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to construct a connection for iron bedsteads to hold the head and foot portions together in the sales room, in order that they may be moved and lifted without separating them.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 shows the application of my improvements to an iron benstead. Fig. 2 is an elevation of my improvements shown in connection with a bedstead. Fig. 3 is a plan view of my improvements.
My improvements compose two sections connected together by a bolt in an adjustable manner. The top section 1 has its ends 2 in conical form, the ends being larger at the top. The lower section 3 has its ends 4 in conical form, the ends being larger at the bottom. The ends of the top section are provided. with shoulders 5, and the ends of the bottom section are provided with shoulders 6.
A bolt 7 is passed through an opening 8 in the bottom section and through an opening 9 in the top section, receiving a thumb nut 10 on its projecting end.

with the head and foot sections of a bedstead, the thumb nut 10 is loosened sulficiently to admit the conical ends of the top section being located in the conical recesses 11 of the extensions 12 from the bed sections. The conical ends of the lower section are placed in connection with the lower ends of the recesses 11 of the extensions 12. The thumb screw is then turned down against the upper surface of the top section 1, which will draw the two sections 1 and 2 toward one another in engagement with the extensions of the bed sections. This connection firmly clamps two extensions of the bed sections together, and by the employment of two connections the four bed extensions will be connected in pairs, as shown at Fig. 1. W hen the bed sections are thus connected, the sections canbe moved about and liftedv as a single piece.
I claim as my invention.
A coupling for iron bedsteads comprising two sections adjustably connected, each section having its ends in conical form, and provided with shoulders, the smaller ends of the cones facing.
