JULES L INDAUER, OF PARIS, FRANCE.
CORSET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 10, 1907.
Application filed July 9; 1907. Serial No. 382-883.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J ULES LINDAUER, citizen of France, residing at 42 Rue du Faubourg du Temple, Paris, France, have invented new and useful Improvements in Corsets, of which the following is a specification.
It is known that corsets are often provided at the front and at the bottom of the busk with soft parts adapted to be applied against the abdomen to sustain it. In corsets of this kind, when the rigid part laced at the back is extended below the rigid part of thefront of the corset, as is often the case when it is desired to fit in properly the hips and the breeches, the soft parts at the front tend to open under the action of the lacing and one is obliged to keep them closed by means of buckles, straps, hooks, laces and the like.
This invention relates to a corset with soft flaps at the front below the busk characterized by the fact that it comprises two double branch hose-suspenders connected each to the flaps and to the hose in such a manner that the soft flaps are kept applied against the abdomen without them being capable of separating, even if the abdomen is a little prominent, and whatever be the length of the rigid part laced at the back of the corset, without it being necessary to use any closing device to connect the flaps one to each other.
The arrangement has besides the advantage of remaining in place and of having no tendency to turn the hose: this is due to the way of arranging the two branches of each hose-Suspender leading to the same hose, one of said branches being attached to one of the halves of the corset and the other branch to the other half.
The accompanying drawing illustrates a form of a corset manufactured according to the present invention.
Figure 1 is a front view of the corset, the hose-suspenders being shown in their fastening position, and Fig. 2 is a corresponding view in which the hose-suspenders are detached.
The corset a is provided at the front below the busk b with two soft parts or flaps p g on which are adapted to be attached respectively two branches of the hose-suspenders d, f. The branch (1 being attached to the flap p carried by the right half of the corset, the coacting branch d which has to be hooked with d to clasp one of the hose, will be attached on the left half of the corset, on an extension 1 of said corset, as illustrated in the drawing. (By right half and left half of the corset are meant those that are applied at the right or left side of the wearer when the corset is in place). In the same manner, the branch f being attached to the flap q carried by the left half of the corset, the coacting branch f which is to be hooked withf to clasp the other hose, will be attached on the right half of the corset, on an extension 8 of said corset, as shown in the drawing.
The branch d carried by the right flap 1) is hooked with d on the left hose and the branch f carried by the left flap q is hooked with f on the right hose. The branches (1 and f of the hose-suspenders are thus crossed one with relation to the other, which prevents the soft fiaps which sustain the abdomen, from separating one from each other, and as the branches d f remain about parallel one to each other, they cause the pulling of the hose to be exerted vertically and prevent consequently the turning of the hose on the legs of the wearer. It is also obvious that any one of the branches (1 and (1 may carry the male-hook, provided the other branch carries the female hook. The same is to be remarked of course with regard to the branches f and f. Finally it will be understood that the abdomen could also be well sustained with the above arrangement even if the soft flaps and g were cut off, provided a sufficient fireadth would be afforded to the branches of the hose-supporters which would then be attached directly on the corset, in order that said branches form themselves the soft part adapted to be applied against the abdomen.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A corset comprising, soft flaps p and g provided respectively below the busks on the right and left halves of the corset, and two hose-suspenders formed each of two branches d d and f f respectively, one of the branches (1 which is attached to the soft flap 29 being adapted to'be hooked on the left hand hose with the corresponding branch (1 which is attached to the left half of the corset, and the other branchf which is attached to the soft flap q being adapted to be hooked on the right hand hose with the corresponding branch f which is attached to the right half of the corset, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth 2. A corset comprising two hose-suspenders formed each of two branches (2 d and f f respectively, one of the branches (2 which is attached at the bottom of the busk of the 5 right half of the corset being adapted to'be hooked on the left hand hose with the corresponding branch d which is attached to the left half of the corset, and the other branch f which is attached at the bottom of the busk 10 of the left half of the corset being adapted to be hooked 011 the right hand hose with the corresponding branch f which is attached to the right half of the corset, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my 15 name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JU LES LINDAUER.
