LOOSE-LEAF BINDER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Aarnun A. TArr, of the cit of Winnipeg, in the Province of Manito a, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Ir'nirovements in Loose- Leaf Binders; and I hereby declare that the follo, is a full, clear, and exact description of t e same.
This invention relates to a loose leaf binder comprising a bottom board, two
ts connected thereto, a top board adjustable on said posts relatively to the bottom board, and a spring actuated lock carried by-the'top board and arranged to engagesaid posts and revent the outward movementof the top oard until said lock' is released, as hereinafter described land particularl set forth in the appended claims. The posts may be angular or multilateral in cross section, but it. is preferable to make them triangular in cross section with the apex of each triangle pointing inwardly.

The ends o of the locking bars o opposite the aperture sections r project beyond' the flanges p and are slightly upturned to constitute thumb, pieces for the actuation of the locking bars. As shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 4, of the drawings, the dimensions of the lockirg bars o are sliphtly less than the inner dimensions of the loc cases t, so that the locking bars o can freely operate therein, as hereinafter described.

When the pressure is removed from the thumb pieces o', the actuating springs amove the locking bars from the plosition shown in Fig. 3, to that shown in 'g. 2 to cause the apertured ends of the locking bars to eng e with the posts b. As shown in Fig. 2 the oeking bars o when in engagement with the posts b incline slightly above the top surfaces of the lock cases i and the le h of the locking bars o from their places o contact with the posts b' to the center ofthe' fulcrum ins q is greater than the length of a line parallel with the top surfaces of the Aloclt-cases drawn from the centers of the fulcrum pins to the adjacent surfaces of the posts, so that the outward pressure of the top board will be resisted by a force equal to the strength of the parts.
