DANIEL McNEILL, OF GLENORKNEY, MEADOW LEA, MANITOBA, CANADA.
FOUNDRY DRYING-STOVE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 26, 1907.
Application filed May 23, 1907, Serial N0. 375,312.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL MCNEILL, a subject of the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at Glenorkney, Meadow Lea, Manitoba, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Iniprovements in Foundry Drying and Like Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to foundry drying and like stoves, and has for its object to provide a seal joint between the door and the roof by fitting on the door a dip plate arranged to dip into a sand trough carried by the roof.
The improved drying stove is represented in the accompanying drawings, in which Figures 1 and 2 are elevation and plan respectively of the door, and Fig. 3 a vertical section, at right angles to Fig. 1, of the door and part of the roof.
The roof, which is supported on the usual walls, is composed of ordinary roof beams A on which are supported arches B of ex panded metal sheets coated with or embedded in non-conducting and vitreous cement B. The front beam A is provided with a trough C to hold sand into which dips a dip plate D fitted on the back of the door E so as to form a tight joint.
The stove door E is made up of a framing of ordinary tee iron bars, with straps F at the corners, but having the spaces between the bars filled in with single sheets G of asbestos mill-board secured by straps H H and bolts and nuts along the edges. Inspection holes K suitably covered are provided in two of the straps H and a lifting handle I fixed to brackets M on the door framing is furnished as usual. Hinged panels N are fitted in the door near the bottom of the stove to provide for ingress or egress when desired or for use when adjusting the dampers of the heating apparatus.
Having now described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. In a foundry drying stove, the combination of a roof beam formed with a sand trough, and a door having fixed thereonadip plate extending into said sand trough as described to form a joint or seal.
2. In a foundry drying stove, the combination of a roof having a beam formed with a sand trough, a door having fixed thereon a dip plate, said door being formed with a hinged panel to provide "for ingress and egress as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
DANIEL MoNEILL.
