Be it known that I, DICKRAN M. SARKI- SIAN, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Malden, county of Middlesex, State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in Pulley-Holder's for Curtain- Poles, of which the following description, in

.connection with the accompanying drawing,

is a specification, like letters on the drawing representing like parts.

This invention has for its object the production of a simple and conveniently applied pulley-holder for use on curtain and portire poles, for supporting or holding in place the pulleys or sheaves over which are led the cords used to draw the curtains toward or from the center of the pole.

I have so constructed'the pulley-holder that it can be applied to the pole after the latter has been set up, thereby obviating the necessity of taking down one or both ends of the pole, and my novel pulley-holder can be clamped securely upon the pole at any desired point.

The various novel features of my invention will be fully described in the subjoined specification and particularly pointed out in the following claims.

Figure 1 is a side elevation of a pulleyholder embodying one form of my invention, clamped upon a pole; Fig. 2 is a left hand edge view thereof; Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 1 of another form of pulley-holder embodying my invention; Fig. 4 is a right hand edge view thereof.

Referring first to Figs. 1 and 2, the pulleyholder therein shown comprises a two-part annular, narrow body composed of the members a and b, the member a being the larger and having a curved inner face a adapted to embrace a portion of the circumference of the pole P. The smaller member 6 is curved, and is connected with the member a in any suitable manner, as by a hinge 0, so that it can be swung outward to enable the body to be applied to or removed from the pole. The separable ends of the two members a and b are extended in a substantially radial direction, and opposite each other, as at a b respectively, and opposite threaded holes are made in the extended portions, to receive a suitable clamping and connecting screw 1). By loosening the screw enough to disengage the extension a the members of the body can be opened or separated, to apply the device to a pole, or to remove it, as will be obvious.

When the device is applied to a pole the screw 1) is set up, drawing the two body members together and clamping them firmly upon the pole at any desired point, and it will be manifest that no disarrangement or disturbance of the pole is necessary to either apply or remove the pulley-holder.

I have shown the body member a as provided with laterally separated extensions'or cars a in the plane of the body, see Fig. 2, three of such ears being shown in Fig. 1, and sheaves or pulleys 0 are mounted between the ears on a pin or rod 0 on which said pulleys revolve.

Preferably the extensions or ears a are diametrically opposite the separable ends a b of the pivotally connected body members, the latter being referably made as castings, with the ears a integral with the member a.

The device is very simple, cheap to construct, and readily handled, and provides a firm and stable support for the pulleys over which are passed the curtain-controllingcords.

In the other form of my invention illus trated in Figs. 3 and 4, the two members (Z and e of the body are pivotally connected bya hinge f, the member 6 beingshown as substantially semi circular, the upturned branches (1 of the member d forming the other half of the circular seat which inclosed the pole P. On the branch (1 opposite the hinge f I at tach an upturned plate (Z apertured to receive a connecting and clamping screw (1 which is extended through a threaded hole d" in the plate (Z and adapted to bear against the surface of the pole, as shown in Fig. 3. The screw connects the separable ends of the members (Z and e, and by setting up said screw the pulley-holder is clamped upon the pole. ,The member (1 is provided with extensionsor ears (1, laterally separated from each other, and sheaves or pulleys d between the ears are rotatably mounted on a pin (1".

When the pulley-holder is to be applied to or removed from a pole the screw (1 must be unscrewed far enough to withdraw it from the cooperating end of the member 0.

My invention is not restrictedto the precise construction and arrangement shown and described, as the same may be modified in difierent details without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention as set forth in the appended claims.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a pulley-holder for curtain poles, an annular, narrow body comprising two members hinged together and having separable ends and adapted to embrace the pole, a pulley-sustaining extension on and in the plane of the body, and a clamping screw to directly connect the separable ends of the body and clamp the latter on the pole.

2. In a pulley-holder for curtain poles, a two-part annular body adapted to embrace the pole, a hinge permanently connecting the two parts of the body, a detachable clamping connection between and positively cooperating with both the separable ends of said parts after the body has been applied to the pole, to clamp the body on the pole, and a pulley-sustaining extension on one of said parts independent of the hinge.

3. In a pulley-holder for curtain poles, an

annular body comprising two members hinged together and adapted when opened to be applied to the pole, laterally separated ears extended from one member, pulleys rotatably mounted between the ears, and a screw connection between the separable ends of the hinged body members, to hold them together and clamp the body on the pole.

4. In a pulley-holder for curtain poles, a body composed of two curved members hinged together and adapted to embrace the pole, the separable ends of said members being extended radially and opposite each other, a clamping screw to connect the said extended portions and clamp the members upon the pole, and a pulley-sustaining extension on one of the body members.
