To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that AARON Morinnoosn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Atlantic Highlands, in the county of Monmouth and State of New Jersey, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle-Closures, of which the following is a specificationv This invention relates to bottle closures and more particularly to those for milk bottles and has for its object to provide a closure which will be simple and cheap, which may be easily attached to bottles of the type at present in general use, and which will be so arranged that the bottle may be easily stopped and unstopped.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description and it will be understood that changes in the specific structure shown and described may be made within the scope of the claims, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings forming a portion of this specification, and in which like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views,
Figure 1 is a perspective of the upper portion of a bottle provided with the present invention, the stopper being in place. Fig. 2 is a section taken vertically through the invention longitudinally of the yoke.
Referring now to the drawings, there is shown a bottle 5 having the usual enlarged rim 6 at the mouth and the customary circular groove 7 within the mouth. Engaged around the neck of the bottle below the rim 6 there is a wire 8 having its ends twisted together as at 9. At the opposite side of the bottle from the ends just mentioned the Wire 8 has formed therein by bending, a pair of horizontally extending spaced eyes 10, which have engaged therein loops 11 formed at the ends of the legs 12 of a yoke 13, the legs extending parallel to each other and being connected at the opposite ends from the loops by an integral bight 14, this yoke being formed of a length of wire as may be readily Adjacent to their looped ends the legs 12 are bent at right angles, as shown, and the yoke is thus formed to lie with its bight at times over the mouth of the bottle and at times out of such position, the connection of the legs with the wire 8 being such that this .pivotally upon the yoke G.

A stopper 15 is provided for the bottle and consists of two disks A and B, of tin or other suitable metal, the disk B having a struck up circular central portion C and a surrounding annular portion D. This portion D is soldered or otherwise secured to the disk A and there is thus formed a space E between the portion 0 and the disk A, which receives the bight portion F of a yoke G, having its legs H passed upwardly through openings I in the portion G, the extremities of these legs being bent around the yoke 13 at the bight portion thereof, to permit pivotal movement of the two yokes with respect to each other and the disks are movable The peripheral portion of the two disks are bent away from each other, as shown at K to form what is in effect a groove L receiving a circular packing washer M. The stopper thus formed may be forced into the groove 7 as may readily be understood, the washer" M forming an airtight union, and it will be understood that the stopper may be easily removed by grasping the bight 14 of the yoke 15.
What is claimed is 1. The combination with a bottle. 01' 21' wire engaged around the neck thereofand bent to form spaced eyes, a stopper removably engaged within the neck of the bottle, a yoke having the detached ends of its legs pivotally connected with the eyes of the wire, said legs being bent to bring the bight portion of the yoke over the mouth of the bottle. and a second yoke having the ends of its legs pivotally connected with the bight of the first named yoke, said second yoke having its bight connected with the stopper.
2. The combination with :1 bottle, of a stopper renrovably engaged in the neck thereof, said stopper including two disks secured against each other, and having their peripheral portions separated, a circular washer engaged between said peripheral portions of the disks, a yoke having its bight disposed between the disks, with its legs extending outwardly through one of said disks and a member pivotally connected with the said legs and with the bottle for movement to bring the stopper' into and out of the bottle.
