Description
UNITED STATES JOI-IN W. RAILEY, OF LEWISTON, MAINF MILK-CAN.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented ont. 15, 1907.
Application filed August 9, 1906. Serial No. 329,930.
To all whom 'it may concern.'
Beit known that I, JOHN W. RAILEY, a citizen of the- United States, residing at Lewiston, in the county of Androscoggin and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Milk-Cans; and I d o declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable, others skilled in the art to which it appertains .to make and use the same.
My invention is an improved milk can, which may be readily and thoroughlycleansed and kept in a perfectly sanitary condition, and it consists in the 'construction and arrangement oi devices hereinafter Vdescribed and claimed. y
In the accompanying drawings,-Figure 1 is a perspective view of a Inilk can embodying my improvements; and Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional -view of the same.
The body l of my improved milk can has a central cylindrical portion 2, a semi-spherical bottom portion 3, and a substantially semi-spherical upper portion 4 which is formed with a substantially' cylindrical neck 5, said upper portion of the can being curved Where it uniteswith the neck, so that the entire interior of the can is made up of curved surfaces, which greatly facilitates the cleansing of the can and prevents the lodgwhich is cylindrical in form and open at its upper and lower sides and provided on its -upper and lower edges with surrounding reinforcing anges 7 and 72. The semi-spherical bottom 3 of the can body is placed in the said supporting base 7 and said can-body is secured the can is placed on ice in an ice box or refrigerator.
Further, the lower surrounding fiange of the tubular cover serves as a support lfor the can and prevents Wearing away of the semi-spherical bottom thereof.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood Without requiring a more extended explanation.
v Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent., is,
A milk cnn comprising a cylindrical body with a semispherical bottom, av tubular cover secured part way of its length to the body above the said bottom, said cover having reinforcing 'beads on its upper and lower edges,
vthe lower one ,of which serves.as' a support for the can to prevent wear on the semi-spherical bottom thereof, substantialy as specified. I
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN w. RAILEY.
