. LEVELING DEVICE.
No. s66.429.
sive device of this character which may be readily api t plied for use, and one which may be conveniently ad- Referring to the drawings, 1 .designates a radiator or v other body having feet 2 to which are applied leveling devices 3 adapted to rest on the door surface 4, these parts with the exception of the devices 3, being of usual form and material.
The leveling devices 3 constituting the subjectmatter of the invention each comprise a tubular body portion 5 consisting of a length ofpipe tubing internally threaded as at 6 throughout its entire length, and a movable disk-like member 7 marginally threaded for engagement with the threads 6 for adjustment longitudinally of the body 5, there being formed at the center Speciiication of Letters Patent.
Application tiled November 10, 1906. Serial No. 342.872.
Patented sept. 17, 1907.
of the adjustable member or disk 7 a square or other non-circular tool receiving opening 8 'formed Wholly through the disk to open at both sides thereof.
In practice, and in setting up the radiator, the leveling devices 3 are arranged under one or more of the legs 2 in accord with the unevenness of the floor surface, it b eing observed, as shown in Fig. 2, that the body portion 5 of thedevice is of such diameter' that the leg 2 will seat loosely therein and rest upon and be sustained' wholly by the adjustable bearing member 7 which may be moved upward or downward as the case may-'be in the operation of leveling the radiator by introducing a tool into the opening 8 for rotating the member.
It is to be particularly observed that the device is owing to its simplicity susceptible` of ready adjustment, and furthermore, that .inasmuch as the opening extends wholly through the bearing vmember 7 the leveling device as a whole may be arranged with either end uppermost, thus'facilitating the operation of applying the devices and overcoming the necessity for observing especial care inthe arrangement of the parts.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
A leveling device comprising a hollow, internally screwthrended cylinder open at both ends, and a marginally screw-threaded disk having its threaded portion in adjustable engagement.- with the threaded portion o't the cylinder, said disk having its axial dimensionsubstantially less than the length-of the cylinder', and being provided with i1 centrally located non-circular opening.
In testimony whereof, I aiiix my signaturelin presence ottwo witnesses.
