f IRONING-TABLE Specification of Letters Patent. l
Patented Sept. 1'7, 1907.
Application ned Novmber 20,1905. serai No. 288.269.
y one of the principal objects of the same is to provide simple and eliicient means for adjusting the height and inclination of the ironing board.
Another object is to provide a folding ironing table which can be quickly .folded within a small space when not in use and which can be quickly adjusted in position foruse at the required height.
These and other objects-are attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in whichyi yFigure 1 is a perspective view of an ironing table made in accordance with my invention and shown opened out in position for use; Fig. 2 is a similar view'dof the ironing table adjusted to a lower position; Fig. 3 is a 'plan view ofthe adjustableboard support; Fig. 4 is a:
detail view, showing the manner of connecting the pivoted latch to one of the legs and showing the recess in which said latch is to be folded when the lboard is not in use; Fig. 5 is a plan view of the ironing table in folded vided at its upper end with a ferruleY 9,having a point or spur l0 projecting from the upper end thereof. A
1 latch 11 is pivoted in a recess 12 on the inner side of one l of the legs 1, the outer free end of said latch being bent table maybe adjusted in the position shown in Fig. 1 so that the board will be at a greater height than when adjusted as shown in'Fig. 2, thus rendering the board adjustable to the heights of different persons and for different classcs of Work. clination of the ironing board may be changed at will bythe adjustment of the supporting device 6, and that a garment maylbe quickly placed upon the board or i removed therefrom without the upward movement of the free end of the board 5 or the downward movement of the support 6 after the point or'spur l() has been disengaged from the bottom of said board. When not in use the board may `be folded Within the thickness of the legs 151, as shown in Fig. 6.
Various Achanges in the, form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any ofthe advantages of this invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and'desire to secure by Letters-Patent iszv1.` An ironing table c omprisingspaced legs, inclined spaced supports pivotally ,connected with said legs. one of said supports liaving'spnced notches in its upper face, :1n
Itwill also be seen that the inironing board'pivotally connected at one end between said i inclined spaced supports, and foldable to lie therebetween when closed, :1 brace rod pivotally mountedonone of said legs and having a hooked end to engage said notches, said brace carrying leg having,r a longitudinal recess formed 4in its inner face to receive said brace rod and hold it securely in position when the table is collapsed, and-u support for the other end ot' said ironing board pivotally mounted hetween said inclined spaced supports and provided with means for engaging said "board 2. An ironing table comprising spaced legs, inclined spaced supports pivotnlly connected nt one end with said legs, one ot' said supports havingspaced notches in its upper face, anironing board pivot-filly mounted at one end between said inclined spaced supports and foidable to lie therebetween when closed, a brace rod pivotally mounted lon one of said legs and having a hooked endto engage snid notches and a bracing supportforgthe free end of said board comprising a V-sliaped member with its diverging ends pivoed adjacent to the inner faces of the inclined supports respectively and with their free ends concer-ging. and a ferrule arranged on and connecting said converging free ends, said ferrule having a spur projecting from the en d thereof. to vengage the lower face of the yfree end of the ironing board.
1n testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
