To all whom it ma/y concern Beit known that I, H. MONTGOMERY WHITE, of

East Hartford, in the'countyof Hartford, andState of Connecticut, have invented anew anduseful Improved Parlor-Game; and I declare the following to be a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making la part of this specicatiou'. l l

My improvement will enable personsto play billiards at their homes, at small expense for apparatus, and with none of the temptations ordinarily incident to billiard-playing in public rooms.

In the drawing, A represents the top of a table. Almost any table found in thefamily will do for this purpose, but the size best suited to it is one six feet long by three feet Wide. It is not absolutely necessary to use a cloth thereon,though to do so is better.

I fasten at each corner a screwfolamp, made of metal, represented in the drawing by B C D E, of about the size and kind now in common use for fastening sew- Y ing-birds to tables, te.; but in the place of the sewing-bird, a straight rod or pillar, cylindrical in form,

about three-eighths of an inch in diameter, and. about three inches high, stands perpeudicularly on the clamp. l

Three of these corner pins, C D E, have three equidistant grooves, represented by a b o.

One corner pin, B, has, instead of these grooves, and answering to them, three knobs, el e f.

The four corner pins being all firmly screwed to the four corners of the table, I-loop a'strong cord, as, over the top, of the corner pin B. I draw it tightlyarouud the other pins, through all the grooves a', and fasten on knob d. I 'then carry the Cord down to knob o, around the pins, through grooves b, and fasten on knob e. Iiepeat the operation for the lower knob, f, and

grooves c, and 4the table is ready. Put thereon the ordinary cues and balls, and the game is ready.

If it is desired to play a pocketgame, I place a small nine-pin at each ofthe four corners, and when one of them is knocked down, let it count for a pocket.

4with screw-clamps, in combination with the cord x,

adjusted in the grooves a b c, and fastened on knobs d e f, when used as herein described, for the purposes described.
