SUSPENSORY BANDAGE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 16, 1907.
Application filed May 9,1905. Serial No 259.526.
invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention has for its object an improved flat pouch suspensory bandage so constructed as to isolate the scrotum-and penis from the other parts of the body and also from each other. It is especially useful in case oi venereal disease or other diseases of the parts referred to.
The invention consists in the matters hereinafter described and referred to in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings Which illustrate the invention, Figure l is a pespective view illustrating one forni of my apparatus; Fig. 2 is a similar View perspectively taken from the opposite side; and Fig. 3 is a 'perspective view of modication showing the employment of independent suspensory flaps.
The central piece or isolated shield I is formed preferably of fabric and is triangular in form.A Secured to the upper corners 2 of this shield are body or Waist straps 3 and 4, and to the lower-most corners are secured perineal straps 6, the opposite ends of which are secured to the body straps generally at., the sides or rear of the body. In the central piece or shield is formed an aperture 5 of suitable size.
As shown in Figs. l and 2, the holder is provided with seam 11, band or the like arranged at a suitable height by the smaller elasticity of which the holder is at this place divided into two parts, the lower serving for receiving the scrotum and the upper the penis,A both chambers being separated from one another by means of the constriction produced by the seam l1. The holder is provided at one side with elastic pieces b by means of which it may be suspended on buttons 7, placed on the body or middle piece.
In the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, a separate pouch 14 for receiving the penis alone is provided in front of the support or holder 13 and both are suspended by means of straps b to buttons provided for this case on the body plate. The diseased member thus finds convenient and suitable support or cover and may be carefully inclosed in surgical wadding or the like.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In a suspcnsory bandage, a central member having a vertically elongated opening for the passage of the serotuln and penis and serving as an isolating means to prevent contact between these parts and the body, an adjustable waist band connected te the upper opposite corners of said member` perneai straps extending from the lower part o1' the member, and an elastic Hap piece secured at one side to the member and having a detachable connection therewith at its opposite side, said iiap piece having,r a line of stitching extending from edge to edge thereof to restrict or prevent stretching of the flap piece at the point and dividing the flap into independent scrotum and penis receivingr portions. In testimony whereof I hereunto aix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
