ALEXANDER M.VPUGH, OI." BUCYRUS, OHIO. Letters Patent No. 85,960, dated Janna/ry 19, 1869.
IMPROVED BED-BOTTOM.
The Schedule referred to in these Lettera Patent and making part of the om.
To all 'whom fit may concern Beit known that I, ALEXANDER M. PUGH, of Bueyrns, in the county of Grnwford,a11d State of Ohio, have invented a new end useful Improvement in Spring-Bed Bottoms; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, Inakinr a palt of this specification, in which- Figure l is a plan View of a bedstead with a slat at tached, and l Figure 2 is a vertical section, taken in the line x x of fig. l.
The nature of my invention consists in the peculiar formation and combination of wires, byqnieans of which the slats are attached to the springs and bedstead.
To enable others skilled in the art, to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
In each end`of the slat A are two holes, through which is inselted the wire B, the ends of which are then bent out past the ends of the slet, and at each end of said wire B, a hook, C, is formed.
In the head and foot-rails of the bedstead, staples D, of the desired width, are placed, at suitable distances apart..
The hooks O are inserted into eyes E, said eyes being?r formed at each end of the wire F.
Around this wire or rod F and the staple I) is an elastic band, G, which connects the slat A to the bedstead.
It will be seen that with connections as above described, the slats can very readily be removed, and as easily replaced in their former position.
Having thus fully described my invention,
That I elnim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The comhinatioii ofthe slat A, and fastening B and- F, and web or band G, substantially ih the manner shown and described.
'ALEXANDER M. PUGH.
