T0 all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, CHARLES F. HOFFMAN, l a citizen of the United States, residing at Lansing, in the county of Ingham and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Racks, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing.
My invention relates to improvements in devices for the support and display of sundry articles, and the object of my invention is to provide a rack or stand which will be cheap in manufacture, simple in construction and easily packed for shipment, and for storage when not in use.
In the drawings illustrating the principle of to me of applying that principle, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my new support; Fig. 2 is a side view thereof; and Fig. 3 is a side view showing the support folded for shipment or storage.
The back a, of the support is formed with two openings, the opening I) being at the top and the opening 0 being at the bottom. The opening I) is so formed as to receive the block at attached to the back of a pad of paper 6 upon the sheets of which may be printed any Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 23,
desired advertisin matter or other information. The block (I fits snugly in the opening I) into which it is pressed from the front, and as the 0 ening narrows from bottom to top, the bloc is held snugly therein. The lower edge of the paper pad 6 rests upon the shelf f. At the bottom of the back a there is pivotally mounted in the opening 0 the base g; and the opening a is of the same shape and size as the base g, so that when the base 9 is thrown upwardly against the back a, it fits snugly in the opening 0, as will be obvious from Figs. 1 and 3. A prop h is hinged to the back a at the point t and when the support is not in use, the prop may be folded down against the back a. The base 9 is provided with studs j to hold the more securely any article seated thereon, as the shaving mug is.
My new rack may be put to a variety of uses. Instead of the mug k, the base g may be used to support an inkstand or like article.
