`SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 264,995, dated September 216, 1882.`

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN J; ARMSTRONG, Jr., of the city ot' Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State ot' New York, have invented a new and Improved Book-Holder and Arm-Rest Combined, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
lne principal object of this invention is 'to provide a device for bookkeepers use for hold` Figure l is a perspective view of my im-4 proved book-holder. Art-presents the baseer board, B the hinged support, and C the arm-rest. The hinged support is adapted to be held in nearly a vertical position by the4 hinged supporting-leg D, the lower end of which is adapted to rest in the notches or depressions a ai, made in the base for holding one side ot' the book atdierent heights. The under side of the base A is recessed, as shown `at d, to receive and inclose the larger portionfof the arm-rest, and is formed with the gutters or grooves h h to receive the narrower and thinner portion g of the armrest, as clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 3.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The boa-rd A, provided with a hinged book` rest on one side and a sliding arm-rest ou the other, the one folding down fiat and the other sliding in ways close to the board, as shown and described.
