BOTTLE-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 14, 1907.
Application filerl July 26,1906. Serial No. 327,862.
To all whon't it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CLARA MILES HonsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in BottleHolders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has relation to bottle hold ers and consists in the novel construction and arrangement of its parts as hereinafter shown and described.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple, cheap and useful holder, to be used principally on nursing bottles for infants, to insure the safety of the bottle and contents, while the bottle is being utilized for the purpose of feeding.
One of the great objections to the ordinary feeding bottle in general use, is that the child while feeding must be continually under surveillance, in order to prevent the breaking of the bottle by falling or being thrown by the child, which is one of their great pro- To overcome this objection I provide a simple form of a spring clip to engage the neck of the bottle and to the said clip is attached a cord which may be worn either around the neck or Waist of the child; and in case the bottle is either thrown or falls from the childs hand, the bottle will be suspended by the said cord, which will result in saving of the bottle and contents.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of my spring cli Fig. 2 shows the form of the clip for attac ing to the neck of a bottle. Fig. 3 shows the clip with the suspending cord attached, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a bottle with my holder attached.
The spring clip 1 is made of a single piece of vu're or other material, doubled on itself with the ends joined at an intermediate point x forming a smooth. elongated loop with no projections. The loop is then bent to substantially the shape of a horse shoe, forming a spring clip adapted to engage the neck of a bottle. -The suspending means 3 is a single cord with the ends terminating in the tassel 4. The cord is passed through the two ends of the loop 55 and secured thereto by means of the ordinary slip knot. The cord loop is placed around the neck or waist of the child and forms a suspension means by which the bottle is held, thus preventing a loss of the bottle contents or the destruction of the bottle in case it should fall from the childs hands. The holder can be easily detached and attached for the purpose of cleaning the bottle and is absolutely safe as it is smooth, and presents no projections whereby a child might be hurt in using.
The use of my holder not only saves the loss of the contents of the bottle in case it should be dropped, but saves the expense of breakage which is generally an item with bottle nursing infants.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In combination with a bottle having a flanged mouth, a tether comprising an elongated spring loop member, said member fitting around the neck of the bottle with one of its sides in contact with the flange at the mouth thereof, and the ends spaced apart, and a cord having a slip knot which receives the ends of the clip and tends to draw them together to hold the clip laterally in close contactwith the bottle neck.
2. In combination with a bottle having a flanged mouth, a tether comprising an elon gated spring loop member, having semi-circular ends, said member fitting around the neck of the bottle with one of its sides in contact with the flange at the mouth thereof, and the semi-circular ends spaced apart, and a cord having a slip knot which receives the semi-circular ends of the clip and tends to draw them together to hold the clip laterally in close contact with the bottle neck.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CLARA MILES HODSON.
