Aoolication filed October 2, 1905. SerialNo. 281,057.
To a, whom it may concern: Be it known that I, WILLIAM L. YVIL- LIAMSON, a citizen of the United States, re-

This invention relates to-that class of flue supports particularly designed for use in the ceiling of a room, to hold the flue from contact with the rafters between which it passes,
' manufacture than to effect the use of the article.
In the drawings; Figure 1 is a top plan view of the invention. Fi 2 is a side ele vation of the structure s own in Fig. 1. Fig. 3,155 a sectional view showing a modification.
Referring now to the drawings, the present hanger comprises two U-shaped straps each inc uding a web portion 2, and sides 3 and 4, theend portions of the sides being bent-outwardly at right angles in a common plane, as illustrated at 5 and 6.
the structures shown, Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings, additional straps 9 and 10 are disposed .upon the web portions 2 directly is received.
to form a support forcommon plane, and a pair adjacent to the sides 3 and 4 so that they lie in spaced relation, and they are held secure in place by bolts 11.
In use, the support is disposed with its outwardly turned end portions 5 and 6 upon rafters 7 and 8. between which the web portions 2 and the straos 9 and 10 lie, and outline a frame through which the smoke pipe The flue or chimney, as may be used, is disposed or built upon the webs 2 and the straps 9 and 10 so that the several parts are held as supported securely in their proper positions.
Instead of fastening the straps 9 and 10 to the webs 2 by means of bolts 11, said straps, as illustrated at 9 in Fig. 3, have their extremities bent downwardly as illustrated at 9 to lie against the outer edges of the webs of the U-shaped strap and hold the straps 9 against longitudinal displacement, it being understood that the weight of the flue or chimney will hold the straps 9 against any upward movement while lateral movement toward each other will be prevented by the smoke pipe which is received between them.
What I claim is: v
As an article of manufacture, a flue support consistin of two parallel spaced U-shaped meta straps having their extremities turned outwardly at right angles in a f independently formed parallel spaced crossstraps, disposed upon the web ortions of the U-shaped stra s and having t eir ends turned downwar 1y against the outer edges of the webs of the U-shaped straps, whereby'longitudinal displacement of said cross-straps from said Ushaped stra sis )revented.
In testimony w ereo I aflix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
