Description

No. 851,527. PATENTED APR. 23, 1907.
J. KRONACHER. FOLDING BRUSH.
APPLICATION TILED JULYZB, 1906.
' UNITED STATES PATENT orrrorj.
Specification of Letters Patent.
I Patented April 23, 1907.
Application filed July 26, 1905. Serial No. 271,347.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Josnrn KRONAOHER,
whose post-office address is 13 Pfisterstrasse,
.Bamberg, Bavaria, in the Empire of Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding Brushes; and I do hereby declare the following to' be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. F
This invention relates'to improvements in combined garment hangers and brushes and is more especially adapted for coats.
The invention consists of a hanger desirablyprovided with a brush or brushes and preferably having coat supporting portions and neck supporting portions. I
; In one embodiment of the invention the improved hanger consists of two foldable members provided on one or both of their outer ends with brushes, their inner ends desirablyserving when the members are folded or if desired looked, as a handle for the brush and when the outerends are open they serve as a support for the garment and the members.
The invention will be more fullydescribed in connection with the accompanying drawing and will be more particularly pointed out and ascertained in and by the appended claims.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a view in side elevation-of the improved device showing the same in an open or unfolded position and adapted to form a garment support. Fig. 2.
is'a plan v ew thereof. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the device folded to serve as a brush.
Fig. 4 is a plan view of the device in a-folded provided on their lower edges with brushes of a character adapted to be applied to wearing apparel the upper edges being preferably straight and rounded at their outer ends. Preferably the brushes arespaced apart-by inward'extensions e which latter are preterably bent upwardly with respect to the ends iment with parts a and b.
a, b and if desired may be joined at their inner ends by means such for instance as a hinge c. It will be obvious, however, that the advantages of the invention could berealized by the provision of parts e e in align:
I desirably provide means whereby the members may be locked in an open position when used as a coat hanger. As shown, one section e is provided with lugs g and the other section with a single lug f adapted, when the members are unfolded or are in an open position, to overlap or interfit, the said lugs being apertured at h so that when the members are in an open position the apertures of the three lugs are brought into register. as a part (1 for hanging the device u on a suitable supporting hook or like xture which part is preferably provided on one end with a hook and is adapted to have its opposite end inserted through the aperture h as clearly shown in Fig. 1. The lower end of said hook is provided with threads adapted to engage the'lower lug g and to pass freely through the upper lug g on the intermediate lug f. When the parts are in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2 they are locked in an open position and form a ri id structure adapted to perform the function of a garment holder. When it is desired to use the device as a brush the hook (I is removed and the parts are folded, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, bringing the brushes into aligned elation.
I desirably provide means whereby the hook d may serve as a locking device for the members in a folded position so that all the parts of the device will, in any adjustment, remain intact. To this end the member a is provided with an aperture '5 adapted to receive the straight end of the hook d and the member I) is provided with a recess is and a leaf spring catch therein. The parts are so roportioned that the outer end of the hook when forced over said s ring catch, as shown in Fig. 4, securely locks the members in a closed osition.
While I ave herein shown and described specific embodiments of my invention I (l0 not wish to'be limited to such specific showing except for such limitations as the claims .im ort.
at I claim and desire to secure by Let? ters Patent is: j
1. A combined brush and coat hanger comprising two hinged members each having I provide means such comprising two hinged members each having or unfolded position, said means serving to ner ends forming a handle when the memthe same are opened, and means associated folded, the inner ends forming a handle when brought into close proximity when the memand serving as a support for the members when the same are opened, and means assobrushes on their outer ends and upwardly f bent portions on their inner ends, said bent portions serving as a handle when the parts are folded to be used as a, brush and serving as a'support to the neck of the garment when i the parts are open.
2. A combined brush and coat hanger comprising two hinged members each having brushes on their outer ends and upwardly bent portions on their inner ends, said bent portions serving as'a handle when the parts are folded to be used as brush and serving as a support to the neck of the garment when the parts are open, and means for locking and supporting said members in an open or unfolded position. v .3. A combined brush and coat hanger brushes on their outer ends and upwardly bent portions on their inner ends, said bent portions serving as a handle when the parts are folded to be usedas a brush and serving as a support to the neck of the garment when the parts are open, and means for lock-' ing and supporting'said members in an open lock saidqnembers in .a folded position.
