Description

' PATENTED APR..23, 1907. .SIM.
AINER.
FILED APIL8, 1905 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DRAINER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 23, 1907.
Application filed April 8, 1905. Serial No. 254,569.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CELIA SIM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Nebraska City, in the county of Otoe, State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and. useful Improvements in Drainers; and I do hereby in may drain readily away.
Other objects and advantages'of the invention will be understood from the following description.
In the drawings forming a portion of this specification and in which like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, Figure 1 is a vertical section through the drainer in place upon a bucket. Fig. 2 is a top plan View of the drainer with the clothing removed. Fig. 3 is a transverse section through one of the arms of the drainer and showing its convex upper face.
Referring now to the drawings, the present drainer comprises a substantially funnel shaped body portion 5 provided with handles 6 at diametrically opposite points of its rim which provide for manipulating the drainer. The minor diameter of the body portion 5 is such that the body may be inserted in a bucket 7 while the major diameter is such that the body Will be supported by the edge of the bucket.
From the lower end of the tapered body ,5
of the funnel there depends a cylindrical spout 8 and within this spout is secured a band 9, which acts as a support for a plurality of supporting arms 10 that are connected at their inner ends and are disposed radially of the band. Upon the arms 10 is disposed a disc-shaped plate 11 having a diameter approximately one-third of that of the spout 8.
As illustrated, when the drainer is to be used, it is disposed upon a bucket or in a bucket and the clothing is taken directly from the boiler and placed in the drainer so that it rests upon the disc 11 upon the arms 10. The disc is slightly convex on its upper face so that the water will drain readily from it and the arms 10 are also convex on their upper faces for the same purpose. The use of this article obviates the necessity of rinsing the clothing after removing it from the boiler and before placing it in the blue Water.
What is claimed is A wash drainer adapted to be placed upon a receptacle and comprising a wash-receiving body portion having an open bottom, a spout depending from the bottom of the body portion, a band securedwithin the spout, arms supported upon the band and lying radially of the spout and connected at their inner ends, and a supporting plate disposed upon the inner end portions of the arms, said arms and plate having their upper faces convexed, to permit the water to drain from the wash into the receptacle.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
CELIA SIM.
