COLLAR-BUTTON.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 23, 1907.
Application led October 24, 1905. Serial No. 284,225.
To L7/Z whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, NUNAN CAsEY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, N. Y., have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar-Buttons, of which the following is a specification containing a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
My invention relates to a collar button, and the object of my invention is to provide a simple attachment to a collar button whereby the same is securely held in position in the button hole.
My invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts that will be hereinafter more fully set iorth, pointed out in the claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective view of my improved collar button as applied for use. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the button detached from the garment. Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken through the center of the button,
and showing the same in position on the gar-r ment. Fig. 4 is an elevation of the button, partly in section. Fig. 5 is a plan view of the button.
Referring by numerals to the accompanying drawings, l indicates the base of the button, which is preferably constructed with a beaded edge 2, and integral with and projecting upwardly from the center of this base is a shank 3, on the upper end of which is mounted the head 4. Formed in the lower portion of the shank 3 is a notch 5, which is adapted to receive a pin 6, one end of which is hinged to the beaded edge 2 of the base l in alinement with said notch so that the pin 6 may be readily sprung into and out ofthe notch 5.
When my improved button is applied 'for use, the Vhead 4 thereof is inserted through 4 the button hole of a garment, after which the pin 6- is swung downwardly over the garment and engaged in the notch 5, thus very effectually securing the button in the button hole to prevent its accidental release therefrom.
A collar button of my improved construction is very simple, easily applied for use, and
very efectually secures the button to the garment.
l claim:
The herein described collar button7 comprising the circular base 1, provided with the beaded edge 2, the shank 3 integral with and projecting upwardly from the center of the base, there being an upwardly extending inclined notch formed in said shank slightly above the plane occupied by the top edge of the bead on the base, the head 4 integral with the upper end of the shank, the resilient pin 6 substantially equal in length to the width of the base and hinged at one end to the beaded edge of said base, and the pointed end of said pin adapted to bear upon the fabric between said end of the pin and the beaded edge at a point opposite the point where the pin is hinged. to lock the fabric to the base of the button and prevent the rotation of the button in the button hole in said fabric substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this speciiication, in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
NUN AN CASEY.
