GAME APPARATUS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 2, 1907.
Application filed April 2, 1906. Serial No. 309,438.
.To a/ZZ whom, it muy cmi/067%:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK WV. HOT- 'rENao'rI-I, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to game apparatus,- and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide an interesting and amusing game-box and game-pieces and to provide a number of removable slides adapted to pass beneath a transparent bottom to vary the game to render it applicable to various conditions. These and other objects are attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which` i Figure 1 is a plan view of a game apparatus made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of the box. Fig. 3 is a plan view of a pictorial representation designed as one of the slides adapted to be removably held under vthe glass bottom, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one or the men or pieces.
Referring to the accompanying drawings for a more particular description of my invention, the numeral l designates a box, which may be rectangular or any suitable shape, and near the bottom or the box a transparent false bottom, preferably of glass 2, is properly secured at a slight distance above the bottom proper of the box. rlhis transparent bottom is lprovided with a number or apertures or indentations 3 at suitable points therein. A pictorial representation, as a map or other design, having certain indicating points or marks corresponding to the indentations or perrorations in the glass bottom, is slid under said glass bottom, and the game-pieces or men are then placed in the box for manipulation. These game-pieces each consist of a capsule or elongated tube having a shot mounted to move These capsules by manipulating the box are made to move end over end, and when one of the pieces reaches an 'aperture or indentation in the glass bottom with the shot downward it will remain in this aperture unless it is forcibly displaced by contact with another man or piece. To place a man upon each aperture or indentation may be the desired object or the game.
It will be understood, of course, that any suitable number of pictorial representations may be utilized, and these representations inay either be of battle-fields or various other representations of current, historical, or national events and may be applied directly to the transparent bottom 2.
Various changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrilicing any of the advantages of this invention as deiined by the appended claims.
I-Iaving thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A game apparatus comprising a box having a transparent false bottom spaced from its bottom proper and provided with a series or indentations, a slide removably inserted under the false bottom, and a plurality of men or pieces.
2. A game apparatus comprising a box having a transparent false bottom spaced from its bottom ,proper and provided with a series of indentations, a plurality or interchangeable slides for insertions in the chamber formed between the bottom proper of the box and its transparent false bottom, and a plurality of game-pieces or men.
3. A game apparatus comprising a box having a transparent bottom provided with apertures or perforations, a pictorial representation adapted to be removably placed under the glass bottom and men or gamepieces disposed within said box.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FREDERICK W. HOTTENROTII.
