` UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
JOSEPH SOLATINOIV, OF PATERSON, NEIV JERSEY.
GAME-COUNTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 563,086, dated June 30, 1896. Application led March 25, 1896. Serial No. 584,735. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH SoLATINow, a citizen of the United States, residing at Paterson, in the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new aud useful Improvements in Indicators for Domino Games, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved indicator for domino games, and the object of the same is to provide means whereby the number ot' points as well as the number of games made by each player cau be indicated, so that cach player can readily see his own score as well as the score of the other players; and the invention consists of certain features of construction and combinations of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and iinally particularly claimed.
In the accompanying' drawings, Figure l is a front elevation of my improved indicator for domino games. Fig. 2 is a front view of my modification of the same; and Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section of the same, drawn on a larger scale.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The frame of my improved domino game is preferably made in rectangular form and composed of side bars A and end bars A. A central bar A2 is connected with the end bars and arranged parallel with the side bars A, but this may be omitted, the object of the same being to provide indicator means at both sides of said central bar.
D are longitudinal guidestrips, which are arranged between the side bars A and the central bar A2, said guide-strips being parallel with the bars A A2 and separated therefrom by spaces of suitable width, preferably of such width as to admit the ngers between the same for the purpose of moving a slide C, which is interposed between the side bars and guidestrips D, or between the guide-strips D and central bar A2. The slides C are made of suitable shape andare guided at their bases in longitudinal guide-grooves o? in the edges of the central guide-strip A2 and in guide-grooves a in the inner edges of the side bars A.
rlhe guide-strips D are provided on either or both sides with graduations d, arranged at each side of a central column d of figures arranged in suitable order either consecutively or in multiples of five or in any other manner desired. lach of the slides C is provided with a projecting pointer C', which extends over the longitudinal guide-strips D, so that the same can register with the graduations and indicate the numbers opposite.
The drawings show in Fig. l a front elevation of the indicator, in which on the left the numbers are arranged in progressive order increasing by twenty-'live and on the right in progressive order increasing by five, while on the right is shown a front elevation of a modified indicator in which on both sides the n umbers are shown in successive order from l to 50, the object of this arrangement being' to provide different methods ot' calculation. This last arrangement of figures may be also placed in the rear side of the device, in which case each slide C is provided with a double pointer C.
The indicator is shown to accommodate four players, but it is evident that the principle is the same whether it be made to accommodate two or more players. For the purpose of forming a tally of the numbers of games played by each player there is provided in the upper end bar A', just above each of the spaces for the slides C, a set of holes e, numbered from l to I successively, 01
more, if desired, saidsets of holes being all arranged in the same horizontal line, while slightly below and to the left of each set of holes is arranged a zerohole f, in which the pegs F, which are to be set into the holes e, are normally located.
IVhen, for instance, four players are playing dominoes and one of the same wins a game, his slide, say that on the eXtreme left, will remain on the Zero-mark, while the slides of the other players will be moved so that their pointers will indicate the sums of the points on their respective dominees. lVhen a game is lost by a player, he sets his peg F into the hole l of the set of holes assigned to him, the pegs being moved forwardly when another game is lost, or so on, so that at any time each player may see how many games were made and how many points each player has scored during the successive games played.
Should the player on the extreme left win. several games the number of games Won can IOO readily be determined by siinple calculations based on the number of games lost by the other players, and the saine rule applies to each player.
Having thus described my invention, l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. An indicator for domino gaines, consisting 0f a frame comprising side and end bars, a central bar arranged parallel with the side bars and connected with the end bars, said side and central bars being provided in their adjacent edges with longitudinal grooves, graduated guide-strips arranged on each side of the central bar adjacent to the side bars, said guide-strips being parallel with the side and central bars, and slides guided in the grooves of the side and central bars and along the edges of the guide-strips in the plane of the fraine, said slides being provided With pointers adapted to register with the graduaionl of the guide-strips, substantially as set ort 2. An indicator for domino games, consisting of a frame, comprising side and end bars, a central bar arranged lparallel With said side bars and connected With the end bars, said side and central bars being provided in their adjacent edges with longitudinal grooves, graduated guide-strips located parallel with the side and central bars, said guide-strips being arranged on each side of the central bar and adjacent to the side bars, and slides guided in the grooves of the side and central bars in the plane of the frame, said slides being each provided with tWo pointers to einbrace the guide-strips and slide upon both faces thereof, substantially as set forth.
ln testimony that l claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed iny naine in presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
JOSEPH SOLATINOV.
