Description
,PATENTED MAIL-19,1907, I
J-. EISMAN. HOSE SUPPORTBRL APPLICATION mm) mu 10. 1906.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE. JULIUS EISMAN, OF TORONTO, ONTARIO, cANADA.
HOSE-SUPPORTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 19, 1907.
Application filed May 10, 1906. Serial No. 816,194.
Be it known that I, JULIUs EIsMAN, of the Province of Ontario, Canada, manufacturer,
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in I-Iose-Qupporters, of which the following is the specification.
My invention relates to improvements in hose-supporters and the object of the invention is to devise a light, strong, and durable hose-supporter. in which the pull and strain of the hose will be exerted on the waistband or belt in a substantially direct line as to each support and which is so formed as to dispensewith the pad now commonly used and to the bottom of which the ends of the supporting-strips are generally attached; and it consists, essentially, of a waistband crossed at the front with a V shape at the top and connected at the point of crossing, the bottom ends of the crossed portion being formed in a loop which extends upwardly to the waistband again, where it is connected and bridges the space above the crossed portion of the belt, suitable supports extending through metal loops connected to the looped ends of the band, such supports being provided with any usual form of fastening device and the parts being otherwise arranged and constructed, as hereinafter more particularly explained.
Figure 1 is a view showing portion of a figure and the applicability of my invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail of my hose-supporter.
In the drawings like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.
A is the waistband, which is provided at one end with a buckle B, by which it is held around the Waist. The waistband A has a portion A, which extends down diagonally to the front, and a portion A extending upwardly again and forming a loop at the bottom, as indicated. The portion A is turned back on itself at A and is connected to the opposite end of the band A, as indicated. The portion A then extends across to the other portion of the band or belt, Where it is fastened at A to such portion and then exloop and then diagonally upward at A to a point where the portion A is connected to it. The crossed portions A and A are secured together at A by stitching or otherwise.
The bottoms of the loops formed by the portions A and A and the portions A and A has connected to them the treble metal loops C, through which extend the elastic supports D, also arranged in the form of. a loop and provided at the lower end with any usual form of connecting tabs or devices E. The supports D extend through the metal loops 0 at the top in the form of a loop and may be adjusted in such metal loops as may be desired.
In use the outer portion of each support D extends substantially on a line with the diagonally-arranged portion A or A, and the inner portions of the loops extend, preferably, on a line with the substantially vertically disposed portions A It will thus be seen that the pull is direct in either case upon the band at the waist-line.
Although I show the waistband with the front crossed ortion made in one continuous strip, it will e readily understood that it might be made in more than one piece without departing from the spirit of my invention. It will also be seen that on account of the light structure of my support and thinness from front to back that all bulkiness or undue prominence is taken away from the front of the figure.
What I claim as my invention is Ahose-supporter comprising a waistband having a portion extending diagonally downwardly then vertically upward, then horizontally, then vertically downwardly and finally diagonally upwardly, the'ends of the horizontal portion being connected to the tops of the diagonal portions loops at the junction of the diagonal and vertical portions and fastening devices connected to said loops.
