To all, whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ROBERT R. Rirz, a citizen of the United States, and a'resident of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Paste-Receptacles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof. 0

My invention consists in what is herein shown, described, and claimed, its object being to provide simple economical receptacles for paste or analogous adhesive material, each receptacle having a preferably central water-chamber in which to place a brush employed in connection with a cover for the receptacle as a whole, the bottom of this waterchamber being at a depth below that of the adjacent chamber containing the adhesive material.

Figure 1 of the drawings represents a vertical section view of. a covered receptacle in accordance with my invention and illustrates a brush employed in connection with the cover to be normally in the water-chamber portion of said receptacle. Fig. 2 of said drawings represents a plan view of the receptacle uncovered.

Referring by letter to the drawings, A indicates the wall of a preferably cylindrical receptacle, having a preferably elliptical water-chamber B central thereof or otherwise, as may be most convenient or desirable in practice, the device as a whole being of glass or other suitable material. The bottom I) of the water-chamber is at a depth below that of the bottom 0 of the chamber for the adhesive material, the latter chamber being the space above the bottom portion 0 outside of said water-chamber.

The wall A of the receptacle is shown provided with an upper outer flange d and is exteriorly screw-threaded above the flange to engage the correspondingly-depending rim e of a preferably sheet-metal cover C, between which cover and the vessel-rim a packinggasket f is also shown.

Extending through the cover central of same is the shank of a brush D, provided with a collar g, that abuts the under side of said cover. A handle E is screw-threaded or otherwise suitably secured on the upwardlyprotruding portion of the brush-shank to abut the upper side of the cover C and clamp said cover between it and the collar 9 aforesaid. However, the cover may be variously rel in connection with the receptacle, and the same is alsotrue of the brush and said cover.

The brush D extends down'in the waterchamber B of the receptacle A approxi mately the full depth of said chamber when the cover 0 is in place on said receptacle. It'

is also to be observed that the depending portion of the brush is sufficiently long to permit of its reaching to the bottom of the adhesivechamber of the receptacle without interference of the cover C when the latter and said brush areout of normal position. Hence the difference in depth of the two chambers of the receptacle.

The rim of the water-chamber being below that of the adhesive-chamber of the receptacle water evaporating from the former chamber has an opportunity to condense in said adhesive-chamber, and thereby moisten the material therein when the same is sealed by thecover 0 aforesaid.

l/Vhen the brush is not required as a spreader for the adhesive material, its immersion in the water contained in chamber B of the aforesaid receptacle will keep it clean and soft. However, it is common in the art to provide receptacle for paste or analogous adhesive material with waterchambers in which to place brushes when the same are out of use.

I claim 1. A receptacle for paste or analogous ad- -hesive material comprising an adhesivechamber and a water-chamber, the bottom of the water-chamber being at a depth below that of the adhesive-chamber; a cover for the receptacle, and a brush in connection with the cover to depend therefrom in said water-chamber approximately the full depth of same when said cover is in place on said receptacle.

2. A receptacle for paste or analogous adhesive material having an upper outer screwthread and comprising an adhesive-chamber and a water-chamber, the bottom of the water-chamber being at a depth below that of the adhesive chamber, a cover having a screw-threaded rim engageable with the thread of the receptacle, and a brush in connection with the cover to depend therefrom in said water-chamber approximately the full depth of same when said cover is in place on said receptacle.

A receptacle for paste or analogous material comprising an adhesive-chamber and a water-chamber, the bottom of the water chamber being at a depth below that of the adhesive-chamber, a cover for the receptacle, a brush having the shank thereof protruding 5 upwardly through the cover and provided with a collar abuttin the under side of said cover, and a handle in connection with the brush-shank above the aforesaid cover to abut the same and clamp it on said collar, said brush being of a length below its shankcollar to extend approximately the full depth of the aforesaid water-chamber.

' 4. A receptacle for paste or analogous material comprising an adhesive-chamber and a 15 water-chamber, the bottom of the waterchamber being at a depth below that of the adhesive-chamber a cover for the receptacle,

a brush having a shank protruding through the cover and provided with a collar abutting the under side of said cover, and a handle in screw-thread connection with the protruding end of the brush-shank against said cover, the brush being of a length below its shankcollar to extend approximately the full depth of the aforesaid water-chamber.
