Letters Patent No. 84,658, dated December 1, 1868.
IMPROVEMENT Inf CHURNS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making, part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM B. TUCKER, of 'city of Columbus, in the couutyof Franklin, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Chorus; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exactdescription of the construction and operation of the same, reference being bad to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and 'figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a sectional view of my'chum.
Figure 2 is a view of a section of my churn-dasher.
The nature of my invention consists, mainly, in an improvement upon the revolving dasher heretofore patentedto myself; and it also consists in a more perfect gearing of the parts, by which the dasher is moved, than has heretofore been .known or used.
My improvement to thedasher consists in constructing the bars in the shape of a diamond, in lieu of the triangular form given in my first patent, under date of March 12, I867 These diamond-shaped bars are adjusted upon the arms, in the manner-shown on fig. 2 of, the drawings, the said arms passing through the same, as therein represented.
Upon the drawings, the armsof the dasher are marked a, and the bars are marked 0.
. The gearing of my churn consists of. a small pinion, marked h, on the drawings, meshing and working with the cogs of a large coggcd wheel, marked g.
A crank, m isattached to the centre of this cogged of one piece only, and the cogged wheel g'and the crankshaft are also cast in one piece.
This method of constructing the gearing greatl cheapens the cost of manufacture, without detracting in anydegree from its efficiency.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A churn-dasher, of a diamond-form, as herein shown and described, as an improvement tolmy Letters Pat ent, bearing date March-'12, 18.68.
